I am trying to sniff out Chip's Challenge and thought I'd ask what are your favorite old computer games? Mine, obviously, is Chip's Challenge (Tetris is also up there).

Pfft.  You call Nintendo "old-school"?  More like middle school.

PONG!  Now that's old-school.  [;)]

Ok, seriously...my all-time favorite is Centipede, but I'll play just about anything that comes with a joystick.

Chip's Challenge! My sisters and I put years into that game, but the poor computer died before we ever got to the end (if there is one, I'm still not sure, haha).
I can't remember the name of it, but there was another game from the Chip's Challenge era, polygonal aliens/ships/monsters would come up what looked like a tube (the entire game was colored lines on a black background), and you had to dodge and shoot, but only from around the edge of the tube... It was a really trippy-looking game, I wish I could remember what it was called. It was a lot of fun.

Duke Nukum, and the all-time best computer game ever...Panzer General II. I still play it. In fact, thanks for bringing this up...I'm going to go play it now. I think I'll invade Malta.

Yes, Chip's Challenge does have an end! Although I admit I looked up some cheats online to get through it, lol.

That's an Atari game, never played it but other half is quite fond of it and Gridrunner (I think), I'm not so much into the whole "shoot 'em up" games

Tetris and Pong!

LanceHughes -> RE: Favorite Old School Computer Game (8/7/2011 5:56:11 PM)

Adventure - the very first text-based game: can you say "xyzzy"?  Eventually got the source and was able to get to the end by a weird-ass move that I never would've thought of in a million years.  Well, maybe in a couple hundred thousand......  Glad I had source.  Nowadays, I guess that would NOT be a cheat - reading source code?

Tetris, of course.  Used to play in a particular gay bar in Denver.  Then the machines all changed to the table-top style.  Went to a different bar many years later, and there was good-old floor model Tetris - with my intials STILL on it. LOL!

Y'all know that Tetris is available here, right?

Qix, Joust and Galaga in the arcades... and pinball. God I love pinball. Or... hm... Pitfall on Atari. Or the old, original, Oregon Trail on computer. I think it was an Apple II... don't remember if it was an "e" or not.

Wow.  Someone else remembers that Hitchhiker's Guide game.  I remember watching my brother get bulldozed in the house many a time before I told him how to escape.
