Icarys -> Kitchen Aid Mixer (8/5/2011 12:04:18 PM)

Okay, I'm a little late getting it but I finally did. I think I'm gonna like it. I made some really good bread from scratch last night around 11:00. It was so nice to not have to go to a store for those 2 and 3 day old feeling breads they call fresh. The mixer really did a good job on, well, mixing the dough. I can see a difference in the quality of the mix and the loaves in general. Not to mention it cuts down on the time and the wear on my joints. (Not a spring chicken anymore..Everything hurts it seems) I plan on buying as many attachments as I can buy also. I love making my own pasta..what a difference in taste that is from the store-bought. They also have a meat grinder, grain mill, sausage maker, food processor and a number of other great items. The only worry I have is the strength of the motor. I had half the bowl filled with dough and it seemed to put a strain on the motor and slowed to 50% of the original speed. I suppose that's bound to happen a little but I worry about that happening over the long haul and burning the motor out. Anybody had one long term, if so, any problems?
