Aside from the fact that we probably have a gross exaggeration of how many folks were involved, I had a giggle about the possible reason for the crowd composition. There was an MC hammer concert. I wonder how many of those young thugs were wearing parachute pants?

It's pretty ironic to see it attract racial violence on a big scale considering they had been making the event more multi-cultural over the last decade.

Note how the news stories report the incident. Half mention nothing about race, using terms like young people, teens, and the like - which leaves one wondering what indeed, did happen. The Mayor's quote is understandable though. Anything else would generate another mob, this one of slogan-chanting freaks decrying racism. Kind of like the reason babies must be crotch searched at airports since pointing out the difference between them and the people who have committed terrorists acts would either be A) age discrimination, B) racism, C) religious bigotry, or D) profiling.
