Something needs mentioning about profiles:-
If your profile contains NOTHING about you, or next to nothing, the chances of a response from someone falls like a brick down a well.
So if you're not too brilliant at writing, sit down and spend half an hour or so composing at least SOMETHING for people to go on.
People only know what you WRITE in your profile, they can't make guesses out of thin air.
PRESENTATION, PRESENTATION, PRESENTATION -- that's what it's all about!
Daddy Fred.

HannahLynHeather -> RE: Profiles: (8/2/2011 1:46:06 AM)

but what if the person is a complete fucking doughnut hole? wouldn't a blank profile be apt then?

LadyPact -> RE: Profiles: (8/2/2011 3:03:17 AM)

Let's put the part that I don't consider Myself a doughnut hole aside for the moment.

For the first several months that I was here, My entire profile read something to the effect of "I'll fill this out when I get the time".  I wasn't here looking for anything.  I already knew a number of people in the local and surrounding kink communities.  I had a husband, a pet, and more than enough play partners.  I found the forums interesting.  That's why I stayed.

So, OP, as much as you'd like to think that everybody has to be here for the same purpose as you and do things the way you think they should be done, life just doesn't work like that.  Not even on the net.

Killerangel -> RE: Profiles: (8/2/2011 3:07:44 AM)

This makes sense, but it kind of depends on the gender of the person making the profile. A woman can put up a perfectly blank profile and still get replies and interest.

HannahLynHeather -> RE: Profiles: (8/2/2011 3:11:58 AM)

you a doughnut hole? oh fuck no, you're most definitely jelly-filled.

DarkSteven -> RE: Profiles: (8/2/2011 3:28:46 AM)

Fred, you may not have noticed this, but the folks who post here are far more likely to have filled-out profiles than the cm population at large. And the number of gay/bi men in the forums is not that large.

In other words, your target audience (gay or bi men with blank profiles) just ain't here.

myotherself -> RE: Profiles: (8/2/2011 3:53:47 AM)

To be fair, I avoid profiles of guys with seriously lax presentation skills, such as deliberately abbreviating words for no other reason than laziness.

A lazy writer would likely make a lazy Master...[8|]

i never thought about that before, but its fucking true. and the profiles tend to be good ones to. i wonder why that is.you'd think that the ones hunting on the other side would be more interested in having good profiles.

My theory is that the majority of the blank profilers want to come to cm, bag a partner instantly, and then leave.  They have a fantasy that they will get a mate without communicating.

The forums regulars VALUE the written word, and show that in their profiles as well as their posts.

I'm not sure if this means you think I'm sweet or a bit fruity.

Mmmmmm.......LadyP....add a Lady Hibbie......now thats the breakfast of champions!!!!!

BonesFromAsh -> RE: Profiles: (8/2/2011 4:31:15 AM)

OP, this seems to be a real issue for you, given that this is the second thread you've started about this topic in the past couple months http://www.collarchat.com/fb.asp?m=3715251
Maybe you should take this as a hint that it would be best to turn off the computer and step out into the real world.

0ldhen -> RE: Profiles: (8/2/2011 4:52:40 AM)

Hmmm.....perhaps you and the girl who wrote a few D types to helpfully correct their profiles should date......

Seriously....folks profiles say or do not say what they want....give it a rest......

siamsa24 -> RE: Profiles: (8/2/2011 5:11:05 AM)

My profile is mostly blank, it pretty much says "I'm married and here for the boards"

Aileen1968 -> RE: Profiles: (8/2/2011 5:30:17 AM)

Ha! for most of the time that I had a profile here all it ever said was....Blah Blah Blah.
I never had a problem receiving mail.
It might have had something to do with the fact that I had smokin hot pictures up too.

flcouple2009 -> RE: Profiles: (8/2/2011 6:08:38 AM)

I must currently be a doughnut hole.  Does that mean I like to be covered in glaze?

abrattyprincess -> RE: Profiles: (8/2/2011 7:44:39 AM)

I agree with what most everyone said here. And the bottom line comes down to this --> If you come across a profile you don't like (blank, not enough info, etc.) then skip it and move on. Just because you're expecting something specific doesn't mean others are, too. As stated above, people are on here for a plethora of reasons, one of them being the forums, which is also why I mostly stay here.

sunshinemiss -> RE: Profiles: (8/2/2011 8:41:00 AM)

Well heck, my profile is pretty darned rocking. Why oh why aren't I getting these... what'd he call 'em? responses from someone ?  No, really... I have a well written out profile, very honest, a lovely set of photos, poetry and even references!  I like to think it's a nice mix of humor and charm and eruditism (is that a word?)  What the heck?

It's bigotry, I tell you.  The anti-flower brigade!

Well I can't answer for Hanners, but you're definitely nowhere near "fruity" enough for me. [;)][;)]
