I think we hang around with different kinds of nerds. :p

And I'm not sure ointment would cut it. Maybe you should get that looked at if it keeps happening.

I don't want it looked at. I want it touched and fondled!

Nite nite cutie ;)

Well you'd need someone with more heterosexual hair for that. :p

Night night honeybunpooklekins.

and no wont send any1 here invites sorry

i couldn't fucking care less. i never had the slightest interest in facebook, myspace, or any of that shit. i got 3 invites so far and just deleted them all.

Epytropos -> RE: Google plus (7/27/2011 6:10:15 PM)

It's funny how G+ invites went from more sought-after than El Dorado to utterly unwanted. Everyone who's willing to go to the trouble of seeking them out already has one, and now it doesn't even matter.

Anyway, it's already shaping up to be a superior service, once Google gets things worked out. There are a few things I'd like to see brought over (like notes and walls) but as Rapier and VC say if there's one company worth trusting to do things right it's Google. Of course, they now own practically my entire online presence, given that I use docs, maps, +, reader, voice, translate, and search all on a daily basis, but what's the worst that could happen?

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Google plus (7/27/2011 10:07:37 PM)

I haven't set up my G+ yet...it seems like a tremendous chore at the moment! Will it be useful to me? not sure. If the same folks are all moving, yes. As it is, FB is borked, but I know a lot of folks there. Will the move to G+ if there is no farmville?

That's not quite what I said; that's what Rapier said.

I said that the internet having your personal information doesn't really matter and is an inevitable part of modern life that is not worth knee-jerk panicking about.

heh. Assuming you meant that as a joke, of course :)

I have a friend who works in systems security, and I mean the proper end of things. He reckons it's only a matter of time before someone works out how to data-mine what Google have in such a way as to piece together enough to make trouble for them.

Personally, I feel one either has to accept all the net has to offer, taking sensible precautions but not being overly paranoid about it, or one just gives up and goes back to the abacus or pocket calculator - so much of the power of modern computing is tied up in net-based usage and cloud access that to remove those elements would hamstring one's experience.

So, I take precautions, but don't worry overly about it all, and I also place a degree of trust in various companies that their position and history demonstrates; in other words, yes Google are a large corporate, but they take security and data privacy pretty seriously, whereas Facebook are just basically clown shoes, and are only interested in whatever cash they can lever out of you, or by selling your details and access to you, to the highest bidder.

Haha that's what my husband said too...he's always complaining about me using FB but he's all over google plus...because he trust them more than Zuckertwat.

I have set up the G+ and so far am HATING. But I am a proto-Luddite so this is not a surprise.

Epytropos -> RE: Google plus (7/30/2011 5:18:37 AM)

Yeah that pretty much sums it up. I used to worry a great deal about privacy and such but over the past couple years I've pretty much given up on it. As long as things that can cost me money don't get out I'm ok with just locking things down with privacy settings and trusting the companies to do their best to keep them locked down. At the end of the day it's just too bloody much work to try and keep every little detail secret.

A lot of it is that I've given up on my political aspirations. At one point I had dreams of running for office and wanted to keep my personal exposure to an absolute minimum, but now that I've decided to expatriate it doesn't much matter anymore.
