ORIGINAL: Aneirin Exactly and that is the way to deal with terrorists or any other similar mentality, ignore them, allow life to go on unhindered so that the radicals understand that acts of terrorism are useless as it does not promote their agenda. But Norway has a model to look at in terms of terrorism, the last ten years as it has affected some other countries thus indicating the terrorists have in effect achieved their aim which in the case of AQ was to disrupt the comfort felt by citizens of those other countries, as we all know just what has come to pass since terrorists wreaked havoc on our lives, our comfort in the name of security has been severely eroded, we are all now in effect potential terrorists in our own countries according to the enhanced security measures we have allowed into our lives. The affected countries are turning on themselves, paranoia reigns supreme, we are all ill. Fair comment, IMHO. I've related this story before on CM, but it still tickles me; Just after the London bombs, a news team were out doing vox pop recordings, and talking to people attempting to get to and from work by public transport - the same public transport that had been bombed days before. The reactions were varied, as one might expect, with concern, some fear, and a great deal of bravery being exhibited, but the guy who most made me proud to be a Londoner was an old codger, walking slowly towards his local station, smoking a roll-up ciggie, who was asked if he was concerned about further attacks. His carefully considered reply? "Nah. Fuck em" :) And that, folks, is how you deal with terrorists and the threat of terror. Yeah, I heard one similar, and it was an oldie that had survived the Blitz of London, she laughed and said this was nothing compared to what her childhood was like, but even then, life went on as everyone has to die someday and her being a believer said but god had a hand in that anyway. But this person raised an interesting point in her commentary, look at us now, look at what we have become and look what we have allowed into our society, we have no idea what the civilians in our country went through on an almost daily basis during WW2 But perhaps Britain's experiences of the blitz is the difference in levels of paranoia experienced by the attacked countries, Britain has experienced mass killing of civilians in their homes, but life went on, other places, well very little experience of bombs, so the paranoia is more enhanced. Me, I just keep thinking about that little flap at the back of my throat that opens and closes with breath or nutrient intake, one day if it fails, it will be all over and undoubtedly one day I will drink too much intoxicant which has the habit of making that little flap lazy, how many people have drowned on alcohol.
