Ive been wondering what is the best place for me to store my BDSM gear? I'm thinking when I finally get a house I might use the basement but I also want to use the basement as a place to relax and chill so should I get a basement with two rooms or what? I was also considering using a separate building like a small space in my yard but that probably wouldn't be big enough and people would probably notice. What do you recomend?

In seriousness, though, it depends on what setting you feel comfortable in. Personally I've always wanted to have a greenhouse in a big walled garden as a play area. Its "public" but not public, you can experience rain storms up close and personal, you're surrounded by greenery and nature, and yet you have the option to be completely protected from the elements if you choose. That said, if you're not a nature person and an exhibitionist, that's not going to be your cup of tea.

We rented a storage unit for a year. It had a dog cage in it. Chains. A padded sawhorse. A table, chairs, bottle of jack.
A drawer unit with all kinds of fun stuff in those drawers. I kept his favorite outfits that he liked to see me in on hangers there.
A bunch of heels and stockings too. Lanterns and battery operated Christmas lights for ambience.
I loved that place and to this day can't drive by a storage rental place without getting wet.
It was cool in the hottest of summer days and incredibly cold in the winter.

Our dungeon (not a sex dungeon) is an 18' but 52' army tent on a wood platform.  It has 2 wood burning stoves to keep it toasty in winter.  For sex we are happy with our 8' by 10' bedroom with queen bed.

Never played in one, but my fantasy spot has always been a barn out behind the house.   This said, any spare bedroom or basement can be turned into a wonderful play area.

I know a guy who is into outdoor bondage. He rents several wooded acres next to his house in the country. A lot of "bondage ready" trees, as he calls them. LOL

I'm going to have a portable storage shed. Portable, because, no permits are needed. To everyone else it would look like it was for tools. Strangely enough, they'd be right. (grin)

My husband and I had a basement in our house on the hill. We used the underground part for the dungeon - very soundproof! - and the open part for chilling.

if you had a big enough basement, you certainly could make two rooms out of it.
a friend of mine uses his converted attic space, but it can be difficult to keep cool in the blistering heat of summer (heat rises and all that).
an extra building would need electricity and heating/cooling if you were going to use it all year around, so that would be more work/money.

the aforementioned gardeny-greenhouse thing sounds ridiculously cool.

OP, are you actually in the position of being able to rent/own your own house?  If you're not, it seems to Me that you are putting the cart before the horse.

We move rather often.  Here's what I do.  When we are scouting homes, I put preconceived notions out of My head until we actually start looking.  I deal with the matter depending on what is in our price range and then go from there.  You make what you can afford work.  So far, I've converted a den, a spare bedroom, and currently, a full basement.  Anybody creative is going to know how to work with space.

Yeah...my home with a four poster king size bed is much more comfortable than 20 degrees in a storage chamber naked with only mittens on (Shorey had a weak moment in allowing them).
Although, there is something completely special in my memories about that rental unit...it definitely bonded us and it's where we both told each other that we loved each other.

Try an innocent looking home Gym room with sturdy equipment and an ensuite with spa bath, if you want a sexual swiss army knife that you can show vanilla's

You can do some fairly kinky stuff without any kind of a dungeon at all, just your bedroom and some gear. But if we ever bother setting up a formal sort of dungeon I'm sure it'll be in the spare bedroom.

It depends on the kind of gear you're going to have around. A lot of toys will just fit into a drawer or a suitcase if you just want to keep from falling over them. Floggers are better hung up, maybe in a wardrobe (closet) or behind a door. You only need a specific room for things if you're talking of having crosses, spanking benches, cages, that sort of thing. Or if you want the specific ambience of a dedicated play space. Its pretty easy to convert a spare bedroom or a cellar (sorry, basement to you guys in the US!) for use as a playroom/dungeon really. If there are going to be other people around - family and friends not on the scene - then you'd be wise to have a lock on the door obviously. Also useful for stopping the damn slave getting out once she's in there!
