pahunkboy -> What do you do with cat litter? (7/17/2011 4:59:44 PM)

Do you throw in in the garbage or dump it in the yard?    If you dump it in the yard- is there a trick to it?

The large open side of the litter box goes down.

But does it ever decompose?

windchymes -> RE: What do you do with cat litter? (7/17/2011 5:43:48 PM)

I dump it in double-bagged grocery bags and then take it out with the regular trash.

HannahLynHeather -> RE: What do you do with cat litter? (7/17/2011 5:57:47 PM)

fuck all, cat shits outside the way he's meant to.

Probably not the plastic ones, but you can reuse it...just put some fresh cat litter inside it.

pahunkboy -> RE: What do you do with cat litter? (7/17/2011 6:13:39 PM)

I been putting it in the rose bush area.

dcnovice -> RE: What do you do with cat litter? (7/17/2011 6:32:50 PM)

Regular kitty litter is not compostable.  What type are you using?  You may be able to flush the poop - check on the container.

ChatteParfaitt -> RE: What do you do with cat litter? (7/17/2011 6:41:16 PM)

Regular type.   I would rather throw it out then possibly have to dig up my sewer pipe.

See- in this part of PA  garbage collection is a service one has to order- they change by the bag.   Being that I eat dinner at the neighbors every night... I dont need to order a pick up for quite a while.   I dont ask to squeeze any into her can- because she is picky.     If I did put it in the garbage can-  it would be 50/50 mix of litter and garbage.

Bag it up and throw it out with the trash.

pahunkboy -> RE: What do you do with cat litter? (7/17/2011 6:56:38 PM)

Surely it has some OTHER use?

I am able to recycle so many things- why not this?

ChatteParfaitt -> RE: What do you do with cat litter? (7/17/2011 6:57:29 PM)

Alrighty for that, I am glad you have your trash things in order.

Ah, Hunky one, who the fuck cares what you do with your trash? Who cares what anyone does with their trash.

Here's an example...about 3 times a week the man and I shift through the dirty cat litter and throw shit away. It goes in the regular trash and is then immediately taken out b/c I can't take the stink.

Now I have to ask: Who gives a shit? We dispose of my cat litter as we deem appropriate. How is that relevant to a fucking thing?

It's great you know how to start threads. Personally, I am impressed. But this asking about the minutia of our everyday lives has to stop. It's BORING. Sunny tried to tell you that but she is just too nice. I'm not always nice. Stop It It's Boring.

Rant over, pls return to your regularly broadcast thread. Thank you.

If you really want to compost it or dump it into the yard you need to pick up something different that will break down/be compostable.  There are a couple options on the market these days, the pine based ones like feline pine (and there are a few generic versions) or swheat scoot which is made of wheat or yesterdays news which is made of newspaper.  Often the pine ones & the newspaper variety are pellet form so they are not clumping, but swheat scoop is.  A lot of these brands will offer you coupons, and I believe one of those brands will actually either give you a coupon for a free bag or refund your money for trying it.

The normal stuff has other additives in it - its not bio-degradable.

Thanks

I will have to look for those.    You see - a month ago my cat peed on the floor.  So I change her litter more often now.  Meaning I completely empty to box and wash it down-  and dry it out-  She has not done it again-  but I want to keep the box clean.

DarkSteven -> RE: What do you do with cat litter? (7/17/2011 9:35:16 PM)

Hunky, if you do break it down into compost, only use it on flowers and other nonedibles.  DO NOT use it on vegetables or anything else you'll eat.
