This is good news for the campaign and for the DNC. Most of the donations are small,averaging 60 to 70 bucks.They also are a signal that folks are motivated and getting to work from the grass-roots up. Over a half million people donating at this point in a campaign is also a signal that people are going to vote at the ballot box as well as with their money. I`ve already given 25 bucks on two occasions recently and plan to give 2 or 3 hundred by November. Obama campaign manager Jim Messina said in a video posted early Wednesday that it raised more than $47 million and the Democratic National Committee brought in more than $38 million through the end of June, building a foundation for advertising and get-out-the-vote efforts in next year's election. Obama's team had set a public goal of $60 million combined.

Now the most important question is why? Could it be because people are more aware of the less-than-noble intentions of the political Right?

Actually if you look at what Bush did in 2003 he is 3 million short. Bush raised 60 million alone while Bush/Cheney raised more That's why Obama's goal was 60 million. It's a numbers game, Bush raised 60 million in 3 months privately, Bush/Cheney raised the money through more public means dinners and such. At least that is how I heard it discussed this morning on NPR, "NPR no commercials No Mercy"

It is a mixed blessing actually, Obama, by himself, at this point has more warchest than all the republican candidates combined and the Dems (courtesy of Obama) have more money than they have ever had. The republicans will move their base of support from the airport bathrooms to the boardrooms, and take gobs of special interest money, gobs of corporate donations and gobs of PAC help. That means that you are going to hear alot of Obama is trying to take your guns away, death panels, Obama made the deficit, Obama is anti-business, Obama made the debt, and other puerile crap on that order, and the right who will be ever more in the pockets of special interest and Corporations, will suck it up like airport cock, not having the ability to overcome their basest reptilian instincts and deal in fact. There will really be no issues to discuss, since the republicans have made an absolute and abject failure out of the one thing they were sent down there to do, fix the fucking debt in fairness and with an eye towards making america great and putting it back to work.

I wonder if that has anything to do with the daily emails I get begging for more. For just 5 dollars you can win a chance to have dinner with the POTUS. I can hardly wait until the election gets closer. I may have to opt out at that point but occasionally they send something interesting.

This sort of puts the lie to the old 'republican' saw of the charity of the rich and they want to put their money to their favorite causes, (unless it is Obama and the democrats) so they are some cheap bastids or lying bastids or they see how bad they have been fucking it up and decided to go democrat. Only their Corporations can save them now. Looks like Murdoch aint gonna be in there this round, hes got his own troubles.
