Does anyone know whether there is any reasonably good image-searching software to be found? For example ... suppose you know that someone's profile pic is fake because you've actually SEEN it somewhere. Is there a way to search the internet for images that match a specific file? (Sort of like an image-based, rather than text-based, index like Google.) I know there are programs that will find duplicate files on your own hard drive, but that wouldn't help for something like this.

There's tineye but it's not very good, professional fotographers and graphic artists have programs to find pics on the web, especially if somebody else is using them for commercial purposes, I did a quick google, here are some

As already mentioned, TinEye has been around for a bit and does a decent, if far from comprehensive, job with reverse image searches. More recently, Google has put in their entry to the field, Search by image, which is now a standard part of Google images. You can initiate a search with an image there by clicking on the little camera icon in the search bar.

TY all.  Interesting--I uploaded the exact same file twice, and got two totally different sets of results from Google Images.  Still a few bugs in the system, but at least one of the two results was useful.

And LOL DavidLee I know what a search engine is.
