In the last few months I have dropped out of several sites and groups. I kept this one because I enjoy reading the forums but thou I read most of them, I rarely post anymore. I kept a few groups on Fet for the same reason but I like that primarily for the writing section. Writing works well with my creative nature and my tendency to examine things inside and out.

Lately I have begun to think it is time to drop out of all kink forums. I lack the inner bitch that is increasingly necessary to be heard. Part of me admires the bitchiness because some people have a way of putting all eyes on them, having been a dancer in my life I know that feeling of power and I miss it. But, I know that my tendency toward introspection, along with my upbringing will always prevent me from channeling the inner bitch. Forums, it seems, are no longer for me and so I seek other resources for writing.

I have about 1/3 of a book written which I will probably never complete as long as there are still people living who might be hurt by it. Most of my life experience involved some sort of BDSM, much more than sex or romance, or any other normal topic. I have looked around at blogs and journals but I am running across things that one might hear people discussing at the local coffee shop, helpful but very innocent. I somehow doubt that my life would fit into those pages.

Are there such things as adult oriented blog or journaling sites? I went to google looking but the topics I saw there were so normal I feel like what I might write would get me kicked out in a heartbeat.

I am looking for a place where I can talk about things that might not fit in with polite company but are not rant sites.

Where do I look? Can you recommend a good site?

I don't know if they have official "blogs", but I know you could post/publish your writings on Literotica and be very accepted. I haven't been in there for awhile, but I think there's a section in there somewhere that could be what you're looking for. Good luck!

Are you looking for a community to talk to people or do you just want to put your thoughts into words and never mind who sees it?  I have a LiveJournal that I use as my personal journal.  Most blog sites such as Wordpress, LiveJournal and Blogger have settings that allow you to post adult-oriented material.  For example, on LiveJournal I can choose whether a post is public, meaning anyone can read it, friends-only, or private.  I can even create filters so that some of my friends can see a post but other friends can't, depending on the subject matter of the post.  You could look at my journal and see nothing but the posts I've marked "public" and think my life is completely vanilla.  Unless I add you as a friend, you won't see all the other stuff.

I have access to several of the LiveJournal communities that cater to kink, but I just read them and don't post.  I don't know how well they would work for your purposes if you're looking for a community.  If all you want is a personal blog and you don't care about other people reading it, then Wordpress is popular.  I use Wordpress as my backup for my LiveJournal because WP lets me upload my LJ archives.  I also use Blogger/Blogspot for my book review blog.  There are pros and cons to all of them but all of them work for what I need.  It's just a matter of finding a format you like.

A friend of mine recommended Literotica many years ago so I checked it out. Most of what I read there seemed to be fantasy so I opted out and have not been back. I will check it out again though, thanks

When I write things online I never aim for privacy. When I do wish to keep things quiet I add a chapter to my book which I won't expose until no one will be hurt by it. Online is mostly for comment as it helps me clarify my words so that they are understood by most. I am not seeking privacy as much as I am safety and by that I mean an audience that is more likely to get where I am coming from.
I will look up Livejournal and Wordpress, thank you

Missokyst,
I know that you do not post frequently.
I do not believe it necessary for one to have an inner bitch to post opinions and believe this forum would be lessened by your absence.

I value your bitchless style of posting and have always appreciated your contributions.

Thank you angelika. Sometimes I feel a bit invisible.

Thank you angelika. Sometimes I feel a bit invisible.

That's because you seem to be hidingggg ....!

On the more serious side ...

It takes a fair amount of energy to post, if you are a serious person, or would like a point to "get out in the wild" of the forums.  The noise-level from the "twue-wayers" and the "Republican's suck!  No, Democrats suck!" crowd (notice I spend a lot of time in the P&R forum ...) can make a couple of thoughtful posts disappear quicker than an ice cream bar on a hot 4th of July.

Nowadays, I just don't post (or sometimes even read) something unless it strikes my interest, AND I have something I feel is worth interjecting.  Sometimes I'm just so busy that I miss checking in, and miss a lot of interesting threads and posts.

You can feel invisible, and maybe ignored when others don't respond, depending on what you seek in the forums.

But my experience is that there are more people like me: who read much more than they post, or who rarely or ever post at all, then there are of the "jitterbug posters" who seem to dominate some of the forums and threads.  Such lurkers seek out the thoughtful poster, savor the insightful post, and skip over most of the  noise.    But since such lurkers don't post much ... you won't know it.

But they are there, and they way outnumber the active posters.

So ... if what you post is worthwhile (I've always thought it was), you are contributing worthwhile context, thoughts and information, and people appreciate it.

I know I do.

Firm

I put together a group of people that I wanted to meet.  They are people who are a combination of smart, interesting, witty, intelligent.  For what it's worth, you are on that list.  I understand the "invisibility" thing - I've noticed that since I've stopped being all sweet and nice and supportive and am now more blunt that people respond to me a lot less frequently.  People are here for their own reasons, and if this is not working for you, then it isn't.  For me, I learned how to stand up for myself on the forums.  For that I'm grateful.  I hope there has been something here that you can say, "wow that was terrific" if you do choose to go the way of the Mastadon in regards to CM.

As for the journaling - blogspot is the one I use the most - and it has adult settings.  The one thing I hate about it, though, is that you can't set the language.  When I travel, I sometimes need a local to translate for me so I can do anything or just keep clicking buttons until I get the right one.  But if you are going to be staying in a space where the language is yours, then that isn't a problem.

best wishes,
sunshine

I do enjoy reading here so for that I may stay. This place is heads over heels better than Fet for forum organization. I do need to write though and for that I have been actively seeking a venue. I wish I could dedicate myself to finishing the book but I would guesstimate my mom (who would be hurt the most) to have another 5-10 yrs on her based on our family average. There is way too much in my history that is identifiable to other family members to make publishing unlikely for a while. Blogging (should) allow me to write without committment and though my life has had a few unusual twists I know there are others out there who might be dealing with similar issues who might want to hear about how things don't have to turn out badly. I know when life was happening I wished I knew others that could relate. I scream quietly.

Thanks for the tip on blogspot, I will check that out.

I'm not much of a blog poster.  I barely use My journal here.  Afraid I can't help on that one.

However, you are certainly not invisible.  I know you don't post often, but when you do, it's generally something that is worth reading and bring quality discussion.  If anything, I hope you'll consider posting more as at least a partial outlet.  I'm selfish that way.

Are you looking to blog for the sake of blogging?  Most of the mainstream blogs have some kind of adult declaration you can select or check off to my knowledge - so you could easily right whatever you'd like. I know for certain that both wordpress (you must request/report your own blog as mature) and blogger (its an option in the basic settings) both offer you that option.  How much traffic you get may be a little up to you.
