From Tim Belcher in 1995 to David Price in 2011... Every step done with class....this last puncuated with flair.
Derek Jeter a Yankee for the ages a star in any generation.

slvemike4u -> RE: Derek Jeter hits a HR for his 3,000 th hit (7/9/2011 11:53:39 AM)

What is this.....no baseball fans,no Yankee fans...no fans of class on Collarme ?

slvemike4u -> RE: Derek Jeter hits a HR for his 3,000 th hit (7/9/2011 1:22:39 PM)

Fuck all of you....bunch of Yankee haters the whole lot of you[:)]

flcouple2009 -> RE: Derek Jeter hits a HR for his 3,000 th hit (7/9/2011 1:31:24 PM)

I wouldn't say the game he played to make the Yankees drastically overpay him to stay a Yankee this year had a lot of class about it.

slvemike4u -> RE: Derek Jeter hits a HR for his 3,000 th hit (7/9/2011 1:49:26 PM)

How do you figure he is currently overpaid ? Today's game was a sellout...previous games have seen the seats jammed, how many of those have paid, and will pay to specifically see Derek Jeter play shortstop in the uniform of the New York Yankees.
He has done nothing,on the field or off, that hasn't helped to advance the brand that is the New York Yankees...his remaining in that uniform till he retires is.....as the commercial says.....PRICELESS.
Seriously FlCouple...rethink that last post.....Rodriguez exercised his option, costing the Yankees all of those dollars that Texas was subsidizing on his original deal.CC makes his.....they would have paid Cliff Lee over 22 million dollars a year( a man who has never worn a Yankee uniform and never done nothing for the organization)......you would quibble with Jeter demanding to be paid what he feels he is worth.
No way at all....in this baseball market Jeter is a bargain......did you notice all of the 3k Jeter merchandise being sold at the stadium today....I did...and I'm sure Jeter and his people did.

Yes, well.. East Coast/West Coast thing I suppose.

I still like you though. [8D]

Excuse me, now... I have to go iron my SF Giants World Series T-shirt before Himself gets home. I hope I have time between all the text messages he has sent me on the subject.

Damn Bronx boy.

No need to rethink it, that contract seriously over paid him,.  He is a bit part now.  The Yankees have been much better without him this season.  There was a big break down. about it on ESPN a few days ago.  He held the Yankees hostage because they really wanted him to finish and hit these milestones as a Yankee.

Not to mention that his unwillingness to move to third when at the time A-Rod was clearly a better shortstop didn't exactly scream class either.

Jeter is one more over the hill player clinging on to try and cobble together a couple of records.  Another year and he will be the Bret Farve of baseball.

slvemike4u -> RE: Derek Jeter hits a HR for his 3,000 th hit (7/9/2011 5:56:03 PM)

Sorry FL,we part company here...and I must warn you I am more than a passionate Yankee fan...I actually bleed pinstripe blue....so tread carefully.Jeter as the Farve of baseball is going way too far.The Yankees got a bargain when he signed that 10 year contract....and he is being paid for all that he has dome in the past as well as what he means now and will in the future to the BRAND.
Jeter wearing one uniform and one only is priceless to the Yankees....you throwing Farve's name in there in a conversation regarding Jeter shows you know nothing about baseball...and less about Yankee universe. And I must tell you even a casual baseball fan could explain to you that Jeters talents and contributions can not be measured by cold dry statistics alone.....he is a winner plain and simple...and he exerts and influence on every other player who enters what is his clubhouse.
A shame that you being down there in Florida (clearly not a baseball heaven) has led you to such an erroneous view of what is still America's game...damm shame

I will take that post in the spirit in which it was attended. Please be aware that I have attended many a Yankee game in your little bandbox....so I am fully aware of the high regard Jeter is held in Boston.....of course you guys show that regard by chanting "Jeter sucks" every chance you get.....but hell the guy has broken enough New England hearts to keep therapists in Mercedes for the next fifty years....lol.
By the way have I mentioned......BOSTON SUCKS.......BOSTON SUCKS.

Heh ... that's what makes it okay for you to sleep at night... thinking we attend the therapy sessions?

SternSkipper -> RE: Derek Jeter hits a HR for his 3,000 th hit (7/10/2011 5:37:25 PM)

I'll tell you this much Mike, no one in america will ever forget the criminal defense ARod conducted for himself when he swatted the ball out of the first baseman's glove and stood there holding up the game while he went through millions of scenarios as to how that could've been 'accidental'

slvemike4u -> RE: Derek Jeter hits a HR for his 3,000 th hit (7/10/2011 6:21:37 PM)

See that is a typical Red Sox fan whine.....do you also recall,as fondly, and as often...Bucky fucking Dent....or Aaron fucking Boone.....or Derek Jeter going into the stands,
How about the Boston Massacre.....or the collapse of 1978.
Fond memories all,heh Skipper ?

It's all good...27 championships since 1918 to.....what 2.Seems fair to me [:)]Wait a minute don't we have 28 now?

dcnovice -> RE: Derek Jeter hits a HR for his 3,000 th hit (7/10/2011 7:33:53 PM)

The Yankees are that other New York team, right?

slvemike4u -> RE: Derek Jeter hits a HR for his 3,000 th hit (7/10/2011 7:50:48 PM)

LOL....so let me get this straight...I start a thread offering congratulations to an athlete who has done nothing to bring shame to his sport, his team and his family....and the good folks at Collarme decide it is time to demonstrate that they are all Yankee haters.
The war is truly divided into two types of people....Yankee fans....and those that hate them [;)]

dcnovice -> RE: Derek Jeter hits a HR for his 3,000 th hit (7/10/2011 7:58:35 PM)

I'm not actually a Yankee hater. I just grew up a Mets fan (good training for being a Democrat on election night) and couldn't resist teasing you. The New Yorker once did a Valentine cover show lots of opposites-attract couples, including a Yankees fan kissing a Mets fans.

Joking aside, congrats to Jeter on an awesome feat!

slvemike4u -> RE: Derek Jeter hits a HR for his 3,000 th hit (7/10/2011 8:05:53 PM)

Awww thats so sweet....I loved being teased,I get upset when denial is taken too far though.....lol

dcnovice -> RE: Derek Jeter hits a HR for his 3,000 th hit (7/10/2011 8:08:17 PM)

I'm one of four kids. Two of us root for the Yankees; two root for the Mets. Dad is a Yankees fan; Mom still mourns the departure of the Dodgers. Makes for interesting discussions.
