We have filled up 4 boxes with books that the kids have outgrown, school books, duplicates and yet, I still haven't been able to bring myself to take them out of here. Books are for coming in, not going out!

All this storage space makes me giddy! I would love to see the lighting plan, because the windows are not terribly... window-y.

Right? Just thinking about all the yarn that could come out of the big Rubbermaid tubs and into the light... I wonder if sections are modifiable. :)

Ma'am those books might be infected. I'm going to need to inspect them and possibly confiscate some if they pose a danger. Ma'am can you step away from the books? Can you stop rubbing the books ma'am?

Treasures photo is more my style, but for now i will settle for the floor to ceiling built in bookshelves along one wall of my new house. ( I walked in to the house the first time and nearly gave myself whiplash turning to drool over the bookshelves.)

Orrrrrr you  could just send them to me. I am currently running a shelter for unwanted books....nonprofit of course.

Yeah, that would do nicely....although I'm not sure it's enough bookspace, I have a fuckton of books. Maybe I should open my own library.

Well, I know it wouldn't be enough book space for us, but it was "clean".

I prefer the size, as well as the second story balcony of books on the following... but it is way too "busy" for my taste.  Eliminate the guilding, the drapes, the carpet, and half the furniture... not to mention get rid of those sconce chandeliers (I feel like the room is going to tilt to the right at any moment), and this would suit me much better.

I agree, this is way too busy for my taste. Keep the bookcases and get rid of everything else. Put in some comfy overstuffed chairs and sofas.

Technology is great... don't get me wrong.  We have over a hundred thousand books in electronic format, and several kinds of devices with which to read or listen to them.  In fact, Firm never has less than 2000 books with him on his phone at any given time.

However, there's just something special about a physical book... the feel, the weight, even the smell of ink.  To curl up in a comfortable seat in a warm and inviting room, and spend hours lost in the pages of a real book in your hands... there's nothing like it.

Absolutely! I need the physical book in my hands, there is no way I'll ever buy a Kindle or some such thing unless (God forbid) bookstores close.
