It should be fun to see the Cháveznistas go after the Chomskyites and vise versa

Having had to suffer through one of Chomsky's lectures once for a grade, I'll offer you your own advice back. Don't read em.

It`s democracy,.....that cons have problems with,........sometimes.

That and Chavez has EMBARRASSED THE FUCK OUT OF THEM each winter by donating heating fuel to America's elderly every winter.

Wait Skip, they need twenty verifiable websites endorsed by the US government, the UN and at least five major universities (in the US) to even consider the possibility that anyone the neocons don't like would ever do anything for anyone. After all it would make them better. We can't have anyone better than our "leaders" who are inspired by God himself.

Here ... I'm feeling generous ... unfortunately there is no link to offer that says Texaco or Exxon assisted the elderly with home heating fuel.
So here's a link to Joe For Oil's Press Releases:

Each year, Kennedy writes every major oil company and every OPEC nation to ask for fuel
donations to help the poor, but only CITGO and Venezuela have ever agreed to provide
assistance.

As to the other nineteen websites ... you're probably better off asking the neo-clowns why they don't exist.

explaining the disgrace and failure of big oil, is a job for big oil and their elected apologists.

Sure....you and bush were alllll about freedom and democracy.......

My recollection is that the only ones obsessed with Hugo on this forum, has been you cons.

My guess is that Hugo gets lots of mentions in your rightist rags and you righties can`t help but regurgitate.

"Venezuela coup linked to Bush team"

Specialists in the 'dirty wars' of the Eighties encouraged the plotters who tried to topple President Chavez

Good point,Owner 59. If you look at how US foreign policy has actually panned out over the years - Mossedagh's Iran, Saddam's Iraq, Chavez' Venezuela, Nicaragua and the Contras, "Irangate", Mubarak's Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Israel/Palestine, especially Hamas in Gaza and so on - a commonality emerges.

It's not whether the local government was democratic or not, or a dictatorship or not. It has nothing to do with human rights or promoting democracy or democratic values. The key factor that determines US policy towards foreign Governments is that Government's acquiescence to US demands and interests.

If it's friendly towards US interests, if it complies with US demands it stays. If it opposes US interests it can expect destabilisation, coup attempts or invasion - all aimed at overthrowing those who stand up to US bullying and put their own country's interests first. Then replacing it with some puppet regime - it doesn't matter how evil or corrupt, look at Karzai in Afghanistan, or the Shah's Iran, or Saudi Arabia for example - that will bend over for the US whenever the US tells it to.

Bushevik's support for democracy overseas extends as far as their bank balances and no further. If you're still a bit doubtful please ask the very nice patriotic Halliburton Corporation for a second opinion.

I agree DS.....There were a lot of Chávez supporters in this particular forum but they seemed to dried up over the last year.

There were never any Chavez "supporters" except in the fog of your conservative paranoia.

There were people who rightfully questioned why we need to feel threatened by a tiny country's blowhard president.

Your sincerity and seriousness are so......moving.........and so.......note worthy.

You cons just only support the democratically elected, that you like.

Like your stupid assed bush`s efforts to hold elections in Palestine and then voiding them when ya`ll didn`t get the result you wanted.

What a bunch of ASSES!

We`ll say your love of democracy is conditional.

Why tho,did you have to resort to lying before?

That shows real intellectual cowardice and immaturity.

What`s missing in you that that seems necessary?

Of course their love of democracy is conditional: remember the brooks brothers riot to stop the Florida recount back in 2000?

The Guardian has published what it says is "a transcript of the original interview between the reporter, Rory Carroll, and Chomsky". Judge for yourself whether the OP claim is true .......
