the way they figure it is that since some people don't want ice, then they're giving out more of the product, that as previously stated costs pennies. they put ice in to use up less soda and make it last longer. I'm not coming to their defense by any stretch of the imagination. but to charge for not putting in ice is ridiculous and petty. and I agree, they Will lose so much more business that way that they'll only be shooting themselves in the foot if they attempt a stupid maneuver like that.

When I go to Wendy's, I order the hamburger with OUT the bun, because they put  this funky tasting fake butter stuff on it which you can taste if you're like me and don't want  the condiments piled on. I've never been charged for that. So I don't know which eatery is charging for no ice, but they'd best change their ways.

Its Sonic, as I posted.... and its a franchise, not a corporate owned store.

If its me, im going to drink as much soda as i want, with or without ice.

Isn't Happy Hour generally meant to mean drunks with alcohol? Which makes it a whole different ballgame. I mix most of my drinks in a 16 oz. glass at our Happy Hour which runs from 4 to 7 and I get the occasional cheapskate that wants his drink with no ice, no problem, but he doesn't get more alochol to take up the space of the ice which is what they want. I do a 3 count pour on all HH drinks regardless, they just get more mixer.

As far as just a regular non alcohloic drink, its ridiculus to charge extra for no ice. I don't eat at chain or fast food places ever, so I have never encountered that, but that is just fucked up.

As far as I know, this isnt the norm, but one store out of a chain that is doing this.

Alot of the bars pre-measure the booze.   At least they do here.
