Note that dogs can't eat everything humans can eat. Chocolate is the most famous thing, but there are more. Similarly, some human drugs can kill a dog and I know that vets use some drugs on dogs that we can't use on humans.

I am almost certain there are things a dog can eat that a human can not eat. But I doubt that a dog food company would put any of those things into dogfood. Not only do they know that poor humans sometimes eat pet food. More importantly it is cheaper to use food scraps and lower quality food from the normal human agricultural industry then it is to create a second industry selling food that if it somehow got mixed into our supply would cause problems.

For this reason, I am almost certain that dog food is safe for humans to eat.

Think about it. Most petowners have little children around. And if you have crawling kid and a dog. At some point that child is going to eat the pet's food. If its on the floor, its going in the child's mouth at some point. So pet companies make very sure pet food is safe for human consumption. Below is quote from the IAMS website about if dog food is safe for human consumption

So if you are really in doubt. Simply visit the dog food website and look at the FAQs or send them an email. Tell them you are worred about your toddler getting a hold of the dog food. Sometime it is easier to go directly to the source for information.

Bonio biscuits are quite tasty. When we were kids, we used to put marmite on them and eat them. Yummy - low sugar too so good for your teeth

OMG, as a kid I used to share a bowl with my godmother's Alsatian... I'm still alive...

But iams is something I don't buy for any of my pets, as they keep their test animals in very cruel conditions, money I spend on my pets has to go to a company that's not abusive to animals.

When I wanted to mindfuck a sub, I went to the trouble of substituting a dogfood can label onto a can of human mince and veg that looked very like the dogfood variety. I put it in My pantry next to the real dogfood but I knew which it was (and made sure the glued together bit of the label was at the back and then hidden by My hand). I opened it, dished it into a clean pet bowl and fed it to him ... he paused for a moment, looked at Me so trustingly it melted My heart ... and then ate it. I told him later that it was human food and while he was pleased, he said he'd have eaten dog food for Me anyway!

So, maybe the OP's Domme will pull a similar trick, but otherwise, a high end dog food should be find. My Dog looks and smells delicious! Our poor dog is mostly on a special Hills diet for bladder stones, but we have to mix a little My Dog in so she'll eat it ... there are times I get quite hungry when I open the little tin! Dogs are more omnivorous than cats, hence their food is likely to be more balanced (with some carbs as well as fat and protein), cats are more obligate carnivores, therefore their food is much higher protein with some fat, much less carbs as they can't really handle them very well. Doubt tinned fish etc for cats would be dangerous ... but probably pretty potent for the breath!

My cats and dogs love fish, I am so glad the dogs are omnivores and very keen on peppermint (be it the raw leaves or pastilles), it does help with their breath A LOT, and in case we're out of it, it's the doggie tooth brush, or else we expire from the smell.

I would imagine your biggest concern would be gaining weight. Dog food tends to be for...well....dogs and suited for their metabolism and energy needs.

ROFL, one of the people I work with dislikes his mother in law, a lot, to the point of saying that he bought a house with a wet cellar because if she ever comes living with him, her breath will dry out the cellar walls. If I tell him that, he's possibly going to order it and tell her that it is a delicious side dish...

LMAO...too true...I still remember one of my numerous brothers who would eat dry cat food with the cat every chance he got when he was in the crawling stage.

One more thing. The latest trend in high end dog food, is a frozen raw food mixture. Very healthy for dogs, none of the scary chemicals and things that exist even in high quality dry dog foods. However, stay away from the raw food intended for dogs, it is processed differently than "people" food, since I don't think dogs get Salmonella or E Coli. The only reason I say that is because occasionally mine seem to find dead carcasses in the woods, yet they seem to suffer no ill effects. I have also seen how the raw food is manufactured.

or she could feed you the scraps from her plate whether its breakfast lunch or dinner... simply push the plate to you and say "eat" it's kinda hot.

when I was a kid. There was a big get-together with a bunch of family friends. Some of them owned a dog. They had a bag filled with crackers. I didn't actually know they were dog crackers, so Id steal a bunch of them when nobody looked and eat them. They didn't taste bad. A bit bland but tasted like crackers nonetheless :p
Later that evening I saw that the owners had gone to their spot where the crackers were, and I looked at them hungrily because I wanted more. They then asked me if i wanted some crackers, and my heart lit up and I was like "yea!! :D" ... Then my heart sank and got me really confused when they said to me: "Now give them to Bibi(the name of the dog)".
Everything suddenly made sense, especially why those crackers were formed like BONES... So I looked at them with a confused face and ran away. I don't actually remember if I ate the crackers or gave them to bibi. But I was so ashamed, and I dared not look at the couple who owned the dog for the rest of the evening.

Anyway nothing bad seems to have happened to me :p They were ok, and I'm still alive. So at least dog crackers should be fine.
