My oldest has shown western for years. She's done almost everything that doesn't involve a rope. Some barrels, team penning, working cow horse, western horsemanship, pleasure, reining, and god only knows what else. English kit is what she jumps in. Unfortunately somehow in the unpacking from college she's misplaced/lost her western show boots and paddock boots and she's just announced she needs new English boots as she's been working out and her calves no longer fit the old boots. Do you know how much Justins and Ariats cost? Ouch! Btw, it isn't English as in what modern riders in England wear, but changes from what people wore in the 1700s when the US was settled by England. Sort of like Yiddish and German are both descendants of Middle High German. Divergent paths but equally valid.
