Peter Falk passed at 83.  I didn't know he had Alzheimer's.

I watched many a Columbo as a kid.

I remember him not just for Columbo but for so many great movies too. A few that come to mind are The Great Race, It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, The Princess Bride and more....

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/25/arts/television/peter-falk-columbo-actor-dies-at-83.html

"Mr. Falk had a wide-ranging career in comedy and drama, in the movies and onstage, before and during the three-and-a-half decades in which he portrayed the slovenly but canny lead on "Columbo.” He was nominated for two Oscars; appeared in original stage productions of works by Paddy Chayefsky, Neil Simon and Arthur Miller, worked with the directors Frank Capra, John Cassavetes, Blake Edwards and Mike Nichols, and co-starred with the likes of Frank Sinatra, Bette Davis and Jason Robards.
But like that of his contemporary Telly Savalas of “Kojak” fame, Mr. Falk’s primetime popularity was founded on a single role."

Himself and I had just watched Murder by Death a week or so ago and I loved him in Colombo.. my favorite of the Sunday Mystery Movies at that time.

I'll miss the rumpled ol' Colombo. RIP, Mr. Falk.

Alzheimer's is such an awful disease.

Goodnight, Mr. Falk, and thanks for the great character you gave us.

Robin and the seven hoods.....Apple Annie(do I have that tittle right....Bette Davis,Glen Ford and Anne Margret) great roles ,a character actor with few peers.

P.S. he was also fantastic in " The Brinks Job ( again I hope I have the tittle right)...I know what movies I am thinking of...but I might be screwing up the actual tittles.....lol,what the fuck I am old....and I drink.

Anaxagoras -> RE: RIP Columbo (6/24/2011 6:55:38 PM)

Sad news indeed. He was outstanding as Columbo, really funny in the role. He was very good in The In-Laws.

slvemike4u -> RE: RIP Columbo (6/24/2011 7:09:32 PM)

The In Laws...with Alan Arkin......"serpentine,serpentine"..... Fucking priceless.
