I see. You've assumed that my wife lives with me, or that we are together. Well, everyone does. The shame of it is, no one ever takes the time to ask.

I'm afraid your sarcasm didn't do much other than remind me that most people try to inflict pain from a lack, with no gain in sight. I won't trade barbs, though; it's never worth it. Best of luck in your endeavors. My own 'quest' is far from over.

If anyone else likes the actual thread topic, please feel free to reply. I hold no doubts that the thread will be pulled if deemed inappropriate.

if your wife doesnt live with you, perhaps that should be made clear in the profile or first communication, if it isnt already.  THAT being said: many folks would prefer that marital attachments be severed prior to forming new attachments... just sayin

I understand. I know the topic tends to trigger comments like frazzle's, and I'm not angry at her. Unfortunately, that is not the only complication of my life, which also explains the online aspect. I've also been bit a few times, so play is all I really have time (or patience) for. Anyone wanting more would learn very quickly that it's not an option...which is only fair! Before that even happens, though, I would like someone to get to know me. (Despite the rumors, not every Dom is a slut.)

So. . . what you are saying is that you want someone to put an investment of time and energy into getting to know you, but you have no time or energy to invest into them.

I think I may have found the problem with your ability to forge a relationship.

When pursuing a relationship, think quid pro quo -- something for value for something of value.

It's called a reciprocal level of commitment, and it works great.

I'm sorry, but there is a misnomer here. I'm not seeking a long-term commitment of any sort.

My check would be to ask what I want and am capable of. Both are limited. I would not, will not pretend otherwise.

Thank you for your responses, but I am trying to be realistic here. I know that's not going to generate many responses, and clearly, most will be negative. Should I then give up my concept of happiness? No. If this is not for you, so be it.

I think this thread is derailing, so I would respectfully request any judgment of my lifestyle to be directed to the other side. I did not wish to create a thread about myself, Indeed, my initial thought was to render people capable of venting about people who act before thinking, and this has led to something else. Whatever you might think of my choices, you really don't know me well enough to assess things. Stereotypes are fun and 'splashy' but they can turn ugly, too.

If this is something that members of the community can't handle, perhaps the thread should be pulled. *shrug* I thought there was opportunity here to make playful commentary. I'm beginning to think otherwise. If posting is about what others want, instead of the topic, then I am happy to remove myself from the boards to avoid confusion. I will let the moderators decide and abide by their decision - not the public's. If I went by the public's preferences then I shouldn't consider kink at all. [;)] (You did what?? You sick bastard!)

I don't really understand what this thread is supposed to be about. But I also don't understand why people have decided to use it as a soapbox to spout off about who they think the OP is & their opinions about what he is looking for. Like I said, I don't really understand the subject of the thread, but I'm pretty sure it isn't that.

Apologies to sunshinemiss, I meant that the person whose brain didn't engage first might be kept anonymous, to avoid bashing.

(In other words, if your boss did a stupid thing shout out, but maybe don't give his/her name and address! We can't all be Lulz.)

If an example would help:

I was recently told by email that my boss wanted me to have a new policy in place by next week based on what someone else would (eventually) tell me. I offered a tenuous "So, umm, like this..?" reply, trying to get a feel for what was required.

The loving response was to call me a dumbass and ask why someone else shouldn't do the job. Really...? Well, maybe someone who knows what the hell you want should do the job! [:D] I find myself surrounded daily with people who act or speak before thinking, and I hide this fervent wish that everything was recorded to demonstrate why. Clarity sometimes kills, yanno.

Actually the forthrightness is a bit of a defense mechanism. When you are the first to admit you screwed up and the first to laugh at yourself...others have no choice but to laugh with you, rather than at you.

Not only that, but life is too darn short to pass up a chance to laugh...even if it's at yourself. [:)]

I understood what you meant. What I meant though is that on this forum I'm fairly well known. People know it's me in my real life. I'm certainly not going to bash people on line. I learned my lesson about putting things on line. That shit gets back to people who can hurt you.
