Happy Fathers day to all the daddy's here....where possible go out and toss a ball around with your son are your daughter...find some way to use the day to create a memory that will warm you when it is no longer possible to engage in such activities.
Sooner or later we all get to a point where a phone call just might be the best you can do...treasure those moments when so much more is possible [:)]

Happy Fathers day to those great Fathers, step dads, godfathers, uncles, granfathers who help their young'ns grow in mind body and soul.
Anyone can squirt but a good father is worth his weight in gold

Thank you Lucy for making it an all inclusive thread....something I should have done myself....especially given the fact that I am "father" type to a few more than I have actually fathered....I have just the one son,but I will have the honor and the pleasure of walking two nieces down the aisle.....not for many years,especially for the youngest...but I do look forward to it.

Fathers Day isnt just for those that are biological Dads.
There are the step-dads, Grandpa's, uncles, teachers, mentors, etc.

To all the men who have been a positive influence in the life of a child...Happy Fathers Day!!!

Amen, and sometimes all we, the kids can do, is look up to the heavens and say Happy Daddys Day dad (my dad hated being called father-lol)

So, happy daddys day dad......I miss you.

Nah,I'm the lucky one....they have other uncles....but I have been lucky enough to have played the "father" role for most of their lives.Lucky and privileged..".so the payoff is I get to wear the Tux,walk them down the aisle....and cry my eyes out.Ain't life grand [:)]

I took my own advice,took my niece down to the driving range to explain the fundamentals of hitting a little white ball with a crooked stick.
All I really wanted to do was sit in air conditioning and watch the US Open.....but what the fuck,that's what dvr's were invented for.

Okay this is totally ego driven...but it made me feel so damm good I wanted to share it.I must have missed a phone call while at the range with my niece....so this was the text waiting for me when I returned...it is from my late brothers son,my godson in California....
"Happy Fathers Day Sir.(he usually refers to me as "old man"...lol)Hope U enjoy Ur day.And that all those whose absent fathers role you fill recognize all you have done for them.I know I do"
My son calling me made my day...but I never had any doubt I would hear from him....my nephew,who once told me on the occasion of his first born son's birth that my first grandchild had arrived just made my week.
How can any man choose to shirk the responsibilties...and hence the joys of Fatherhood.

From the way I look at it, anybody can be a father and never live up to the task. A DAD earns his stripes and qualifies by his deeds rather than biology.
  A LOT of the best dad's I've met had NO biological connection to those who call them that name.

I like that SS.....fatherhood can come to anyone with a working prick....being a Dad is a whole nother kettle of fish....one does has to earn that.....I just never could understand why all wouldn't do everything in their power to earn that tittle
I will never cure cancer,never solve the problem of world hunger...but I always knew I could have a huge....huge impact on my child's life,and the way things worked out the lives of a number of nieces and nephews.For that opportunity I will always feel blessed...and I will die happy.....broke,but happy [:)]
