I thought this was hysterical since certain posters here keep trying to tell us the right is all about reasoned debate and ideas.

Democrats are expressing outrage over a web ad launched yesterday targeting Democrat Janice Hahn in California's upcoming 36th District special election. The web commercial, which claims to be paid for by a new group called "Turn Right USA", accuses Hahn of giving gang members money so they can "rape and kill again." The ad features a faceless blonde, white woman (Hahn is blonde and white) grinding on a stripper poll and getting bills stuffed into her shorts, as two black men portraying gangsters sing: "Give me your cash, b*tch, so we can shoot up the street. Give me your cash, b*tch, so we can buy some more heat."

I don't understand the problem to begin with.  It's not the first time outreach programs working with gangs have used former members.  Much the same way that you find former addicts doing drug counseling.

http://www.turnrightusa.org/?page_id=17

It states its a conservative Super PAC.

flcouple2009 -> RE: Political Ads (6/15/2011 1:02:56 PM)

And?  Am I mistaken or could a conservative Super Pac be a democratic affiliated group?

DomKen -> RE: Political Ads (6/15/2011 1:11:56 PM)

I guess the days of code words and dog whistles is behind us. Wonder how long it will be before the n word starts showing up in political advertising again?

No clue. Why dont you look up the filmmaker for your answers,

Kirata -> RE: Political Ads (6/15/2011 1:28:54 PM)

Well let's see here...

The ad is described as an attack on Hahn, Hahn specifically, not women in general -- but it is decried as sexist for depicting (all) "women as strippers."

Craig Huey is reported to have no connection to the ad or to the group that produced it -- but he is pilloried for "having this kind of thing produced."

Granting the ad is offensive, so is that kind of shit.

With the SCOTUS ruling we can expect lots of these shenanigans

flcouple2009 -> RE: Political Ads (6/15/2011 3:14:30 PM)

Kirata,

This type of thing is disgusting no matter who does it.  There are plenty of assholes to go around on both ends of the spectrum.

Personally I would have a hard time voting for someone who didn't distance themselves form this kind of attack.

And yes I did point this out because we have a couple of posters who keep insisting that those on the tight never ever engage in name calling and attacks,

I think the level of political debate in this country would benefit more if both our parties would "distance" themselves from this kind of garbage, a case in point being by ignoring it instead of helping its publicity-seeking originators gain the national spotlight by trying to capitalize on their candidate's "victim" status.

Frankly I would love to see everyone in the center, right of center and left of center band together and start working on the country.  Ignoring the noisy fringes on both sides.

Maybe they use "back-masking," like those satanic heavy metal bands did in the 80's?

Thanks for the clarification, Mike. I wasn't sure if I wanted to know what a "goo pod buddie" was. [:D]

slvemike4u -> RE: Political Ads (6/15/2011 8:03:26 PM)

My lap top is being serviced...I'm using this stupid fucking pad...it has this automatic function where it seeks to correct spelling errors....you should see what it does with some of the nicks that are oh so prevalent around here.Tazzy becomes tizzy,unless I pay attention...than she yells at me.
Laptop back tomorrow,I hate this fucking pad.

juliaoceania -> RE: Political Ads (6/15/2011 8:08:41 PM)

I think Tizzy is a cute name

TheHeretic -> RE: Political Ads (6/15/2011 8:09:41 PM)

I've been thinking about getting a pad, Mike. You may have persuaded me here.
