I just can't see Mitt going that far right with his selection, nor can I see her moving anywhere near Mitt's middle of the road brand of Republican. She is a bit extreme and he will be appologizing already for being a centrist. The best he could hope for would be a VP candidate from a big Southern state with some Tea Party credentials.

How so sanity, for the moment at least they ate running against each other. How are Republicans to choose amongst them if they are all reading from the same script ?

They will need to ,at some point, draw the distinctions between their ideas, proposed policies and such...which will by necessity include in some manner bashing each other.....why the love festival last night?
Pawletny seemed to back off his ObamneyCare line,as if he was afraid of direct confrontation with Mitt...what was that about?

Plenty of time for that, Mike. The Iowa caucuses aren't until 2/6/2012 and the field will be narrower by then as the folks who can't raise money drop out.

Cain disappointed but I lived with Paws as my gov and he did exactly what I expected him to do... wussed out.

I think "wussed out" is a bit harsh. You're never going to see him play attack dog within the party, and may have to light a fire under his butt if he's the nominee. That's just his nature, and sometimes quiet can rise above the din.

On a positive note, the fact that the GOP candidates refused to bash each other and roundly criticized Obama is a very good sign..

funny, I always feel ripped off when I am watching a debate and all that becomes of it is a massive circle jerk. You can hear them critique Obama any day of the week, but how are they different from each other? Or do you even care?

slvemike4u -> RE: GOP Debate: Pawlenty Prefers Coke Over Pepsi (6/14/2011 5:08:10 PM)

Granted Bita...but watching Pawletny fold when KIng directly asked him to address remarks earlier made was a little awkward.....he did everything but apologize for what in truth will be light banter in the months to come.....why back off a stance that everyone looking at the field knows is going to be charge number one against Romney.

Funny, but they managed to do both.

slvemike4u -> RE: GOP Debate: Pawlenty Prefers Coke Over Pepsi (6/14/2011 5:20:51 PM)

No they in fact failed to do anything.....circle jerk was an apt description.

Well, he played attack dog last week well enough when he called out Romney's health care plan. I think the real reason he didn't call out Romney is because if Romney gets the nod, I'm thinking that Paws wants that #2 spot. The man fessed up without excuses to cap & trade as befits his parties line.. so that's good for GOP moderates and those who lean further to the right and I can't fault the guy for abiding by that party line.

I don't really trust him because he raises taxes but calls them fees, but I'm not going to demonize him either. I just think he's sorta wussy. You have to remember that we used to have Jesse Ventura as gov.. after him, everyone looks sorta wussy. ::grins::

In any event, I think Paws would be an okay #2 for the GOP .. it will give him some time to fill out and beef up those political muscles.

I watched it late, I forget who answered first Romney or TP, but if it was Romney he so thoroughly responded to "Obamneycare" in his answer that TP would have had to back off.
