LadyConstanze -> Bit clueless here (6/2/2011 2:09:49 PM)

There were always people I haven't even heard of trying to recruit me into their circle of friends, but lately it seems that it increased A LOT, why would I be "friends" with anybody I haven't ever exchanged messages with or I am blissfully unaware that they exist? Is this like "How many FB friends can I have?" or some other nonsense I'm too old to understand?

DeviantMan -> RE: Bit clueless here (6/2/2011 2:13:22 PM)

No, I think they love the CatWoman style in the profile pic... honestly, everyone would love to have that figure in their friends list.

LadyConstanze -> RE: Bit clueless here (6/2/2011 2:14:25 PM)

It just increased the last few days and I don't understand it at all

I guess it's a fresh generation of CM members? With other BDSM websites slowly dying out, or becoming too expensive for some to afford, CM remains an oasis... with all good and bad that means.

flcouple2009 -> RE: Bit clueless here (6/2/2011 2:17:29 PM)

It comes around in waves.

I don't really pay any attention.  I just click no.

There are some who believe the number of friends you have is in direct correlation to how weel and twu you are.

Most schools are out for the summer holiday now.

LadyPact -> RE: Bit clueless here (6/2/2011 4:18:03 PM)

One reason is that folks know if they send too many generic messages, they get nailed by the spam filter.  Instead of "hi" or some other silly thing, they send a friend request.

Another is the 'collecting friends' phenomenon.  Gathering up 'friends' that they don't even know just because it looks cool on the 'friends' wall.

There's always the folks who hope that if you accept their 'friend' request (can you tell that I'm rolling My eyes on this feature) that you're willing to chat with them or exchange messages.

littlewonder -> RE: Bit clueless here (6/2/2011 4:25:11 PM)

It's like Pokemon cards...how many can you collect to be the top winner???

LinnaeaBorealis -> RE: Bit clueless here (6/2/2011 4:29:19 PM)

The feature that really irks me is the "Admirers" one. Anybody can put you on their favorites list, then see whenever you are online & when you were online last. And it appears that the only way to get rid of these creepy stalkers is to go to their profile & block them. I'd like it better if it was a request that I could reject if I wanted to.

Friends drive me nuts on facebook.   Can one really have 10,000 friends????   argh

They think they are on facebook ... boy ... won't they be fucking surprised when reality hits?

DeviantlyD -> RE: Bit clueless here (6/3/2011 12:45:25 AM)

Gee...I don't have any "friends" on collarme. should I be worried? :D

I don't have any friends on Facebook either...mainly 'cause I've never signed up for Facebook and I doubt I ever will! :P

tiggerspoohbear -> RE: Bit clueless here (6/3/2011 12:51:47 AM)

I get the "friends" request too.  I figure they're trying to build up a collection.  Won't be part of it.  If I don't know you and haven't exchanged cmails, then it's a no-go.   I won't ask to befriend anyone either, I leave it up to them, I'm shy that way.

I basically did FB years ago and then promptly ignored it. This year however, all my colleagues and clients started saying "I have been trying to friend you for <pick a number of years from 1 to 5> and I figured I better make it a point to go there once a week. Business HAS picked up a little cause of the referrals. But I am SO FUCKING SICK of explaining why my best friend has pictures of himself with Bob Weir,The Farrelly Brothers, and Castro. No comments like "hey, Nice fish" when it comes to my wall

LadyConstanze -> RE: Bit clueless here (6/3/2011 7:18:28 AM)

Ah well, it was just yesterday was a day where 4 or 5 hit me, people I never even seen on the message boards, that was a bit odd for one day

Termyn8or -> RE: Bit clueless here (6/3/2011 8:19:38 AM)

I'd rather be eaten alive by a shark than to go on facespace or mybook or whatever stupid ass thing it is. I wish the "friends" option would just disappear.

T^T

pahunkboy -> RE: Bit clueless here (6/3/2011 10:24:44 AM)

...you know I really only talk to people who post on the other side.   other then occasional curiosity -  Mr Palmer type.    lol

CRYPTICLXVI -> RE: Bit clueless here (6/3/2011 10:29:58 AM)

I have no friends or admirers...though before when I was here before I had several, but now I hang out in casual banter and generally just make a fool of myself.

Works for me...

Missokyst -> RE: Bit clueless here (6/3/2011 12:11:21 PM)

If it is facebook you are talking about it is not the user, it is the program which does this.

Ok.. Let's say I join facebook. As soon as the process starts it looks over my various contacts and sends out notifications to my "friends" to let them know I have joined. I also note that often the newly joined person has pictures.. which is BS because they just joined, they might not have any images yet.

So now there is a facebook account. Well guess what? TONS of people I know are on facebook too. If I add one, let's say my son, people on his list now have access to my name and many of them are friend whores who collect friends for what ever reason. My son even has Adam West as his buddy.. but he was a Batman fan.

I hate facebook, but I am on for my son because he is in Japan.

If it is a get friends here deal.. there are friend whores all over who suffer from that need to show they are popular by collecting friends.

flcouple2009 -> RE: Bit clueless here (6/3/2011 6:09:04 PM)

That's easy,  when facebok starts trying to go through your contacts you just say no.  I shut all of that down.  I am hard to find.
