Computer usage I see as the dumbing down of people in their language use, for they are relying on word and punctuation programs to sort it all out for them, just to think, their own language. When I have to write an essay, I am constantly at war with MS Word, it high lighting my use of my language as if it was wrong. I have noticed though since using computers for my work, my use of my written language has taken a nose dive, so in answer to my need often when I submit essays, they are written in ink on paper, the copper plate writing I used to do so well before computers and that with an ancient fountain pen I found and restored for the purpose. As to the use of words, well an old Collins dictionary and thesaurus I have to hand, stuff the internet, because it is often wrong. But writing I see as a dying art form, a craft and skill from the past descending into just communication, words are becoming cheap.
