Jet black hair really isn't flattering on anybody who wasn't born with it. IMO, of course Even worse with blonde stripes.

Now, a warm medium to dark brown with blonde layered over, could be really pretty.

Agree, on both accounts. Even a dark brown, which is closer to his desired black, would work quite well for this.

Perhaps the OP could find some nice hair-color alternatives and show her Sir some pictures? He might be interested if they were very attractive.

My Sir found a hair color combination he likes. Black and blonde. He hasn't ordered me to dye my hair, but he thinks black with wide blonde streaks would look good. I want to please him, but I have a couple of concerns. One is my age. I'm almost 38 and one person told me only teenagers are doing this. The other, I don't want people to think of skunks when they look at me. Should I do it or am I too old?

You're never too old to have fun and if you don't like it, it's easy to change back.  If your employer isn't going to freak out over it then go ahead and do it if you want to.

If she does this what is next?   A tummy tuck and face lift?

Let him so HIS hair up.    (for you!)

I used to go red. But now that I'm going white, and not gray, I can't. White and red makes pink and I am way too old for pink hair.

Indeed, because its a natural progression from coloring your hair to having surgery.  You certainly didn't get any smarter over the last few months, did you?

Her guy ought to love her just the way she is.

Happily-  her hair looks nothing like YOURS.

Wise words from the relationship expert?  When was the last time you were actually in a relationship?  Was it with the drug addict or the gambling junkie?  Tell us, Dr. Ruth.

Indeed. Who in their right mind would want shoulder length wavy auburn hair.  I'm sure they would *much* rather have hair that makes their head look like a toilet brush, like yours.

my daughter looks pure Asian with blue-black hair. I think it looks adoreable on her but she has the body and complexion to pull it off....alabaster skin, teeny tiny petite body and almond shaped eyes.

But yeah most people I've seen who have black hair, unless you were born with it, it just usually looks...mmm...dry and unhealthy to me.

It worked for me because I have a lot of skin pigmentation, so in the summer I'm dark, in the winter very alabaster pale, but you have to keep on top of it, the semi permanent dyes tend to run when you're in heavy rain, a friend coloured her hair jet black during our "goth phase" with permanent colour and it did look good until the roots were showing, if it grows out it makes you look like you're balding. Really bad look.

UPDATE:

I decided to go for it. My natural hair color is medium brown. I have pale skin with an orange undertone and blue veins, which puts me in the cool category. Because of my skin tone, the stylist recommended a dark brown top layer, blonde underneath that hangs about an inch below the dark layer and blonde streaks through the dark brown bangs. Sir and our roommate both love it.

Congrats!

I think that long hair will make a come back.   So a dye job is not the same thing is hacking it all off.  (longer then what is in now)

DE,

I think you were wise to see a stylist.

Last time I died my hair- it looked decent for 2 weeks-- and horrific for the next 10 weeks.   It was a reddish brown- which at first looked great- but as it wore off it looked orangey-...after that- I figured I would not try it again- for as long as possible-- now 2 years.... summer I get a crew cut- so no point to a dye job now.  Yay.

They put layers in and hacked about 4 1/2 inches off the length. It's now in a shoulder length bob.

Good girl. And I am sorry to be so blunt. But I really feel that in the areas of somewhat reasonable requests. We aren't really helping if we're not telling you to abide by your master. Had he wanted you to put a blender on each tit and hit "liquify" my advice would have been quite different.
But that's just me.
Congratulations

I think this would be one of those times you just say "Yes Sir (or Ma'am)" and do it. I mean isn't a big part of your job to look and be pleasing to him (or her)?
