Status: offline 		I really don`t think Christian/fundie/righties should get into comparing the damage wrought by either Christians or by Muslims.


That`s like comparing stab wounds,....... claiming one stab wound is worse than another.


Considering bush tricked us (a Christian nation,remember)into getting tens of thousands of innocent Iraqi non-combatants(Muslims),it`s no longer so one sided.

Why, yes, in fact I have encountered them. Many of them. I work with them, I've lived with them, I've dated them. I proudly call more than one my friend. I'm no authority, but I certainly have more than the average Western person's face to face time with them.

Also, I travel a lot and being as I'm not a bigot, I encounter quite a lot of Muslim people. I have found them to be just like everybody else. There are those who are deeply spiritual and live their lives as Allah would have them (Islam, by the by, means "submission"). There are others who follow the rules but not the spirit of the religion. And there are those who utilize the religion to take advantage of others.

Oh yes... just like every group.

*As an aside to add a little humor... I had a Qu'ran at work the other day, and it was seen by another teacher. He looked at me, looked at the book, looked at me. "Are you a Muslim, sunshine?" he asked me. And I smiled. "Do you know what that book is?" And I said, "yes, it's the Holy Qu'ran. Did you want to look at it?" He kind of chuckled and said, "I didn't there were Muslims in the USA." "Oh yes," says I. "There are lots and lots. I'm not one of them, though." And from there we went into a discussion about the positives and negatives of different religions. One of the teachers who speaks Arabic was shocked to hear me say "Ah Hum Da Allah" (sp)... I love bursting their pre-conceived notions!

There is beauty and learning everywhere. One need only be open to it.
