How To Tie Your Shoes

I just discovered I've been doing it wrong my whole life, and I'll bet most (if not all) of you are doing it wrong as well. This is actually (modestly) interesting and simple.

Oh that's hilarious - who knew?!

actually that is correct though, it is just like you tie a bow in your hair or a bowtie.

Interesting but why is it that sometimes when you go to unlace the shoes by pulling the threads you end up in a knot you have to try and prise apart with your nails? I think the strong form of the knot way has some disadvantages he didn't mention.

And the bows in your hair certainly are tied to perfection, yes.

JESUS I thought for a second my former mentor @ big blue had resurfaced in a webtv career.
We used to call him Mr Plaid. He was JUST like that guy, only three times as obtuse. I remember a team meeting where myself and another protocols engineer were sitting trying to make small talk with the cyborg to no avail when he suddenly got a gleam in his eye. He says to us out of the blue "You know <sigh> before I was the emperor of TCP/IP, I was something of a professional photographer. And I photographed Kathy Ireland". I giggled and said "that's impossible Dan" and he replied "Oh Really? Well perhaps you can enlighten me as to why you think this". I replied "Cause she's alive"

Well Im glad the rest of you are above this. To me, I went, Wow! I didn't know this! I'm definitely going to try this. I so totally have a pair of shoes that keeps coming untied. How annoying.

Oh then you might really like this little trick. Do you like sperry topsiders? Well if you do, buy a pair a little larger than your foot and put em on and as you do, pull the factory tied rawhide laces nice and tight (they are already tied in the proscribed manner). Then walk into a body of water (preferably saltwater) and stand in just deep enough to fully submerge the shoe for about a minute, maybe two. Then get out of the water take the shoes off and dry them in the sun (rinsing them off first if it was saltwater. When they dry, that knot will sty tight and perfect for a long long time. I learned this in the Newport to Bermuda race and it probably has saved my life more than a few times. see if your shoes allow sideways or twisting movement on the deck of a healing saiboat, you can come out of them and easily go overboard. Which completely sucks.
