OK this is like totally awesome(WOW I sound like a valley girl), I feel giddy, I wish I could be out there excavating these awesome finds.
Heralding a new age ...we have  for your delectation......

Seventeen lost pyramids  among the buildings identified in a new satellite survey of Egypt. More than 1,000 tombs and 3,000 ancient settlements were also revealed by looking at infra-red images which show up underground buildings. Initial excavations have already confirmed some of the findings, including two suspected pyramids. The work has been pioneered at the University of Alabama at Birmingham by US Egyptologist Dr Sarah Parcak. An infra-red satellite image shows a buried pyramid, located in the centre of the highlight box.
She says she was amazed at how much she and her team has found. "We were very intensely doing this research for over a year. I could see the data as it was emerging, but for me the "Aha!" moment was when I could step back and look at everything that we'd found and I couldn't believe we could locate so many sites all over Egypt.

That will make planning future excavations so much easier... very exciting! This has implications far outside of Egypt, too.

I wonder if these pyramids align with the heavens....

Thanks for sharing! I hadn't seen that episode of 'Bang'. Always loved hearing about Egyptian archaeology, so was saddened to hear King Tut got ravaged by looters. Nice to hear some good news for a change!

heartcream -> RE: Egyptian pyramids found by infra-red satellite images (5/25/2011 9:30:07 PM)

Wow cool beans! In a way I would not mind if they didnt find all there is to find and let things unfold without white man showing up to intrude yet again and again and again...

Have you seen anything about these Bosnian pyramids?
I heard a podcast of George Noory, successor to Famed mental case Art Bell going on about it and it would appear there's actually something to this one
This one even comes with an Indiana Joneski

So leaving it under the ground and wait for somebody to stumble over it by mistake and then sell it to "private collectors" would be the better idea? The dead don't really care anymore but the way they were buried might tell us a lot about the way they lived, which hopefully helps us to understand our own species a bit better and to learn from history...

Since the BBC releases MOST of their programs to DVD pretty much simultaneously to their broadcast debut, you might want to wait till the debut date and contact your local library. If you live in a state where the libraries are networked. It's generally going to be somewhere ion the system or they'll order it. Or it'll be on the BBC site and you can order it there.
