Owner59 -> Senate Backs President Obama`s Leadership....both parties. (5/23/2011 8:08:56 PM)

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/05/23/libya-resolution-senate-war-powers_n_865906.html

Top Senate Democrats and Republicans agreed Monday on a resolution backing limited U.S. involvement in the NATO-led military campaign against Libya, days after the expiration of the legal deadline for President Barack Obama to seek full-blown congressional authorization.

Foreign Relations Committee Chairman John Kerry, D-Mass., and Sen. John McCain, the top Republican on the Armed Services Committee, introduced the non-binding resolution along with five other Republicans and Democrats.

The measure supports the limited use of military force and concurs with Obama that the stated goal of U.S. policy "is to achieve the departure from power of Moammar Gadhafi and his family, including through the use of non-military means, so that a peaceful transition can begin to an inclusive government that ensures freedom, opportunity and justice for the people of Libya."

Well done!

Pst.... you are proving bipartisan ideas do exist. Careful before you are accused of believing in unicorns too.

It's better than his thread about how teacher's unions protect scumbag teachers...

I had an interesting conversation with one of the bus drivers here yesterday. He was telling me how badly the buses needed work.. the one I was on had no acceleration to speak off... most are in terrible shape. Anyways, he was complaining about how his union didnt take care of the buses. I asked.. isnt it the same union for all of you? His reply... you would think huh.

Union supposed to pay for it ? Far too easy to blame employees when they are not management.

The Union covers all the employees. Garage works on the buses mechanical, then there is a clean up crew to do the insides. Its like he was saying how the union, despite complaints from the drivers, was favoring other departments. Hard enough to fight with the owners, but then have to fight with your own union too?

Would those be the same scumbag teachers that educate your children?

You may want to look that word up. Warmongering? A Brit calling an American a warmonger?? Seriously?
"Hello Pot, I'm Kettle"
America doesn't precipitate war. Check our history - how many wars have we actually started compared to the British?

Well, I live in Pittsburgh, and there is only one public bus system here.... Try the Pittsburgh Port Authority.

Amalgamated Transit Union Local 85

Why is that hard to believe?

If its about the Union representing both drivers and mechanics...

Beyond that, its a story as related by a driver. Believe what you wish.... or maybe talk to someone in your own area, im sure the stories are similar.

Just FYI, RML, the thread in question was about a teacher suggesting that bin Laden was an "uncle" to a student of middle eastern heritage, and that she must be sad about it.

Would you want that teacher in a position of authority over your children? Would you want the school board that you elected to be able to fire his ass?

tazzygirl -> RE: Senate Backs President Obama`s Leadership....both parties. (5/24/2011 6:38:44 AM)

Rich, the update to that story is the teacher is out. Cant find out if he resigned or got fired, but the School District says he wont be returning.

It pays to have a wait and see attitude about these kind of things when you know that they are actually going to be taken care of.

TheHeretic -> RE: Senate Backs President Obama`s Leadership....both parties. (5/24/2011 6:47:43 AM)

Good thing it was in Texas, huh?

tazzygirl -> RE: Senate Backs President Obama`s Leadership....both parties. (5/24/2011 6:49:02 AM)

I would hope that would be the result no matter what state it happened in.

The correct interpretation of the politics by an astute and invariably correct individual:

Subsequently derailed and gainsayed by communists and neo-cons.  Who will now attack the messenger, derail, elide, lie and pretend they are in possesion of facts which are shopworn and have been repeatedly disproven decisively by history and credible citations from the highest levels.  And they will whine, oh, god will they whine...
