You not only replied to one, but you agreed with me. But let me go wrack my brain and I am sure I can come up with some kind of defense.

Although I do agree those with millions shouldn't claim UN-employment benefits, they are entitled. Unemployment is based on quarters worked and moneys earned during those quarters, there are no restrictions on how much was made, only on how little was made. I know, it sucks but it is the way the states I have dealt with all dole out unemployment.

There is actually more to it than just unemployment benefits.

I've known some very well-off people who had most of their money sheltered in annuities and other deferred investments that were able to claim poverty level status by keeping their liquid assets in low yield savings and checking accounts.

And they took full advantage of every government poverty program they could.

It was truly disgusting watching people living in nice homes with a new car in the driveway getting delivered boxes of food intended for those who really were in need of it.

I will agree that they didn't need the money, unless they lost all their money in the stock market or whatever which I know people have done, but it was paid for so I say pay them.    I don't know if there is a cap on how much they get, but there should be.   That is like the entire time I was in the military there was a cap on how much a general could make per month in salary.   I presume that still exists.  When I retired and started looking for a job, CA said I wasn't eligible to draw unemployment because I was military.   Found a job a month later.  But I should have been allowed to draw it just like anyone else.   When I was denied unemployment (CA again) after I retired the second time, I had to sue to get it, even tho their SOP said I was eligible.
