Sanity -> Goulish Mummified Cat Remains (5/8/2011 10:44:15 AM)

I am warning you... if you click on the following links and got eeked out its your own fault.

Im posting this because I am using the first photo as my avatar, but its a very small image and theres been some interest of it in the forums.

I found "Fluffy" under my house while upgrading the old electrical wiring in my home. I had to cut through some foundation to get under the part of the house where I found him, which this part of the house was built in the 1940s or so.

God only knows how long its been under there, or what the circumstances were that led to its demise.

The fogginess is condensate on the lens, the effect from taking the camera out into the cold winter weather from inside the house.

Hi Tom, I didn't bother to click on the link, looking at the one in your avatar is enough for me, thankies.

I found the pics well composed, even if the subject matter made my heart clench.  I'd love to see what you would do with a living model (of whatever species)

FR

Friend of mine works construction. He found a totally petrified squirrel in a chimney once. It's one of his most prized posessions.

Actually I guess petrified is not the word, but this thing is pretty much preserved. But really, where can you buy something like that ? This guy, ya hafta understand, Christmas and all that means nothing to him or his family, their holiday is Halloween. He also has a penchant, or dare I say a fetish for skulls. I mean to the point where if anyone turns up missing.............

T^T

Oh, so this is where the thread went... okay

This cat will be perfect for Halloween, found him too late last year to display him on Halloween though

But yes I am keeping him, though Im not calling him my most prized possession

Someone I know would be very jealous if I did that

Did I mention, it was a very large cat

Interesting find. Did you have a startle at a first? Any unpleasant odor?

MistressRosalyn -> RE: Goulish Mummified Cat Remains (5/9/2011 2:17:26 PM)

And all this time I thought it was a "Hound of Hell".

Sanity -> RE: Goulish Mummified Cat Remains (5/9/2011 2:21:00 PM)

No odor now, hes a very well behaved cat these days [;)]

Seriously though its thoroughly dried and mummified, he was under there getting cured for years and years.

Finding him was a little creepy and a lot fascinating, he was right in my way so I had to pull it out. When I did get him out he didnt look like he died happy, but he was immediately something of a celebrity around the house

NocturnalStalker -> RE: Goulish Mummified Cat Remains (5/9/2011 2:23:58 PM)

This reminds me of that really horrible Stephen King book/movie, "Pet Sematary."

MistressRosalyn -> RE: Goulish Mummified Cat Remains (5/9/2011 2:26:49 PM)

Did you post a "Found Cat" notice?

subsong -> RE: Goulish Mummified Cat Remains (5/9/2011 2:27:18 PM)

I love cats, and have a few .  But I'm also abit of a ghoul - so I found your discovery to be most interesting , and certainly well photographed.    AND ... no litter box required !                       Me-ow !!

MissImmortalPain -> RE: Goulish Mummified Cat Remains (5/9/2011 2:54:55 PM)

Wow I actually thought it was a dog in the avatar. Great pictures though. The second one looks a little like an evil monkey.

MistressRosalyn -> RE: Goulish Mummified Cat Remains (5/9/2011 2:59:07 PM)

Glad I'm not the only one who thought it was a dog!

mummyman321 -> RE: Goulish Mummified Cat Remains (5/9/2011 4:13:47 PM)

I want to know where the OP lives to find a cat that size? Those are some might big paws. Are you in the middle of jungle?

Sanity -> RE: Goulish Mummified Cat Remains (5/9/2011 4:25:03 PM)

The area surrounding Nampa Idaho USA is an irrigated high desert environment

WantsOfTheFlesh -> RE: Goulish Mummified Cat Remains (5/9/2011 4:41:01 PM)

Cool photos. It looks old so maybe it got down there when the house was being built. It doesn't look anything like a normal domestic cat so it would be interesting to know the breed. Could be a cover for a horror, e.g. NS mentioned Pet Sematary.
