For the most part, mainstream fashion and i have ignored one another's existance. Then came those small but intentional defects in the denim of jeans. You'd see them in the stores and think " I thought the defected ones like these got sent to outlet stores " . Over time, the defected denim began to infect all jeans. This denim epidemic had another symptom, dramatic loss in mass. Soon jeans began to shrink, to the point that the ankles on these sickly pants could not be slid over the human heel...[X(]

Who out there likes the holes in jeans ? Who does not like it ?

Skinny jeans, are you pro-skinny or anti-skinny ?

Who out there is considering learning to sew and giving up on pre-made garments ?

domiguy -> RE: Lets Talk About Jeans (4/30/2011 10:38:48 AM)

I don't think vampires are allowed to wear jeans.

FelineFae -> RE: Lets Talk About Jeans (4/30/2011 10:47:34 AM)

Yes, they do. Jeans go great with Ray-Bans.

See? You learn something new everyday.

NocturnalStalker -> RE: Lets Talk About Jeans (4/30/2011 10:50:42 AM)

I like both fitted and slim-fit/skinny jeans. It is extraordinarily comfortable and looks infinitely better than gross sweatpants or baggy clothing.  Seriously, what the Hell is with baggy clothing?  It looks like they stole from the wardrobe of the local baglady.

Holes?  This isn't the 90's anymore, Kurt Cobain.  I will admit some can look very hot on females depending on their look.  I've known some rocker chicks that if not for their boyfriends, would be bearing my children right now.

hejira92 -> RE: Lets Talk About Jeans (4/30/2011 10:50:53 AM)

I like skinny, but Sir likes boot-cut. I wear boot-cut.

pahunkboy -> RE: Lets Talk About Jeans (4/30/2011 10:55:55 AM)

No holes.

SylvereApLeanan -> RE: Lets Talk About Jeans (4/30/2011 11:56:20 AM)

I don't do holes, despite the current 80s revival.  I didn't do holes when it was the 80s.  However, I do wear what is now termed "classic fit" jeans.  This means the waist sits higher at *gasp* the waist instead of riding low on the hips and the legs are tapered instead of flaring into a pseudo-bell bottom, aka "boot cut".

Low rise jeans were designed by Satan to give all but the most anorexic women muffin tops and boot cut jeans are just a desperate attempt by aging hippies to grasp at the last remnants of youth by pretending bell bottoms are still fashionable.  Fortunately, I have never paid much attention to fashion trends.  I stick with classic lines that never go out of style.  I can almost always find something to wear.

These are the only jeans I am completely against

MaxsBoy -> RE: Lets Talk About Jeans (4/30/2011 1:09:12 PM)

Only skinny jeans here.  Unfortunately that makes us "that couple" when we both go out in our skinny jeans and chucks.  So cute it's sickening, I tells ya.

pahunkboy -> RE: Lets Talk About Jeans (4/30/2011 1:12:20 PM)

Holes make  that hot and cold on the same time thing on me.  Either I should be hot or cold- but not both.

Also holes get bigger- prompting me to fidget when I could be doing something else.

It depends on where the holes are, if they are actual holes or shredded, discoloration, etc...

Skinny jeans look good on some girls if they are skinny and have a nice ass to round them out. Otherwise no one at all should wear them and especially not men...unless you're an emo boy and then...well I got nuthin to say being that my daughter's boyfriend is one and I"m trying not to say anything disparaging about him these days lol.

When I am at the actual weight that I like and should be then I have no problem finding jeans since I actually can shop in the junior's dept and wear all the trendy styles lol

But until I lose this extra weight...groan...I refuse to even buy anymore until then. They all just look horrible on me.

ChatteParfaitt -> RE: Lets Talk About Jeans (4/30/2011 1:39:21 PM)

There is nothing wrong with a pair of well fitting jeans, if some of us are less than model perfect, so be it.

I love my comfy easy fit jeans. I am a *jeans* person. Jeans are what you wear when you don't want to get fancy. If you *do* want to get fancy, you wear the black ones.

I admit I can't do the holes thingy, but at my age that would just be trying WAY too hard.

YMMV

i like jeans when i have to go out but don't want to dress up too much. i tend to go for boot cut, but with high heeled ankle boots it has to be skinnies or jeans leggings. whatever though, as soon as i'm home i can't wait to get out of them.

now the guy i see has jeans.......oh yes......he has tight jeans that show him off very nicely indeed. one particular pair have a rip in just the right place to get my hand on his arse, and if sat with legs open could get him arrested. fantastic stuff.

as for holes, here in the uk they are coming back into fashion. i've seen a poster just this week with models wearing them as well as seeing some people wearing them. i'm a little dubious about them for myself, but on certain people they do look good. however, i do think that they can look a little too designer instead of natural which is not good.

The only thing that bothers me about ripped , worn, tattered, jeans is I grew up when kids knew how to make their jeans look like that themselves. Now kids (or foolish parents) pay upwards of 90 dollars a pair for them. As to "skinny" jeans I personally think anyone who isn't a pre teen girl, or a trans goth boy, looks silly in them. I will admit I still own "rips" made back in college. They are great for memory lane and flashback parties with fishnets under them...but for the most part I wouldn't wear them any day other then halloween.

littlewonder -> RE: Lets Talk About Jeans (4/30/2011 4:40:31 PM)

I admit I have a pair of ripped jeans that I bought that way. I love them and they're one of my most comfortable pair of jeans.

Master thinks they're funny and makes fun of them. [:-]

popeye1250 -> RE: Lets Talk About Jeans (4/30/2011 5:57:56 PM)

I wear Wranglers and when they get too bad I cut them up for car rags.

Now making a pair of "Daisey Maes" for a woman can be fun.

Actually, I used to think this too. And then I started traveling. Women with the right body shape actually look great in the low rise jeans - I see many women in parts of So. America and in Asia who look amazing in these. It was actually a revelation for me! I remember thinking that the problem is that the jeans' design was brought to a place where women have the wrong body type for them.

I wear yoga pants pretty much every day. I started this when I worked with children - I didn't want to wear a suit because it would get ruined, I didn't want to wear jeans because they weren't professional enough, and I stumbled upon the stretchy yoga pants that allowed me to be very flexible and to not spend a boat load of money. They look good, they feel great, and everything goes with black! My standard look now is yoga pants, a great pair of (flat) shoes - I work on a mountain for goodness sakes, and going from one building to another means walking down the mountain, and then up the mountain. Nearly 200 steps just to get in the dang building where I work!. I add a nice blouse, a jacket, and off we go!

Yoga pants - they're the best thing ever invented. I have a few pairs of jeans, but I rarely wear them. Funny, I don't feel feminine enough in them. But my yoga pants - I feel very swishy woo woo. Yay! for swishy woo woo.

best,
sunshine

I think I need glasses. I swear every time I see this thread it says "Lets Talk About Jesus". :D

LaTigresse -> RE: Lets Talk About Jeans (4/30/2011 6:54:39 PM)

Because of my lifestyle I end up wearing jeans more days than not. I refuse to spend a lot of money on clothes for work because I tend to ruin them. Printing ink is soooooo not easily removed. In the past, the day I would wear a dress....guaranteed I would end up, picking up the slack in bindery or the pressroom. Running a big cutter or press in heels is just......a really bad idea.

So for me, it's jeans and sneakers. Usually topped with a t-shirt.

The fit of jeans. Well I have many choices in my closet. Most are either a classic straight leg or skinny. Then I have a few, perfect fitting, riding jeans. Seriously, I probably have 30 pairs or more in various shades of blue, gray and black. Various fits and sizes. I like baggier jeans for working on home improvement projects.

My biggest beef with jeans, most clothes really, is how totally fucked up sizing is any more. I have literally tried on a pair of jeans, decided I like them and because they were on sale decided to grab another pair or two of the exact same brand, style and size, from the exact same stack as the pair I tried on. Get them home and have them fit like a totally different cut and size. Goodwill has gotten a lot of brand new clothes because of that shit.
