boot cut jeans are just a desperate attempt by aging hippies to grasp at the last remnants of youth by pretending bell bottoms are still fashionable.

Exception. People who ride horses and really do need to get the jeans over their cowboy boots.

That's what straight leg jeans are for.  Wrangler, Levi and Lee all make jeans that are good for riding without resorting to that horrid bell.

People that wear bell-bottoms should be assassinated.

I may be too young to speak of the matter of 70's fashion, but i'd LOVE to see elephant pants come back!

Now that I'm finally at a weight and size where I can enjoy clothes, I've been having fun experimenting with different brands and cuts. I like classic cut but I do have a pair of skinny jeans that I love.

I've never been a fan of holy jeans, though. I'll pass on those :)

defiantbadgirl -> RE: Lets Talk About Jeans (5/3/2011 9:49:56 AM)

I've always loved the rocker look, so I missed destructed jeans and was glad when they came back in style. I hate low rise jeans though. They look good when standing, but I don't like the idea of showing off my ass crack to everyone behind me if I have to bend for any reason or sit in a chair without a full length back. And Sir doesn't want anyone else seeing my ass crack.

My straight leg leather motorcycle jeans go over my knee high Victorian boots just fine.  Does that count?

No actually.

Am a Levi's girl through and through although all their styles arent that flattering. I am not into the pre-made holes and recently bought a coupla pairs of new Levi's that have a few holes and want to make an applique to cover the holes up.

I wear jeans to work and go for the super tight skinny jeans to show off my lean mean body machine. Sometimes I like when I bend over and a ton of flesh is showing including butt, I think it is fun! I often wear a long undershirt tucked way down deep so no panties or skin shows.

You can tell quite a bit about a person by the way they buy and wear their jeans. Some jeans are so ugly. I get annoyed that they make jeans that cost hundreds of dollars. Let us feed the hungry instead! For instance.

What if your straight leg jeans go over your dress boots?

Okay, bad comparison to make.  I'm not a redneck, damn it.

LaTigresse -> RE: Lets Talk About Jeans (5/3/2011 2:36:55 PM)

Boot cut jeans are made to go over slip on actual workable boots....... aka, in some circles cowboy boots.

Granted I do not wear cowboy boots, but I do have other boots that have a fuller shaft (ha ha ha) that many types of jeans will not go over well. Some, not all, but some, straight leg jeans have a fuller leg all the way down and will go over most boots.

I believe that some of the confusion might lie in what different people consider a straight leg pair of jeans also.

Who out there likes the holes in jeans ? Who does not like it ?

Skinny jeans, are you pro-skinny or anti-skinny ?

Who out there is considering learning to sew and giving up on pre-made garments ?

Only a year ago I was happy with jeans........I was fine with yanking those low-rise mostrosities up over my bum. Now, I have a BIG intolerance for them. I'm not even slightly plump, but they've just become unnecessarily annoying.

Holes, fine... probably not holes near my bits, though. I'm seriously past the age of that kind of seduction. Holes in the knees? well, I'll probably be fine with that 'til I'm in my dotage. Gardeners tend to be.

Skinny jeans.....my sons wear those..........and I'm just not into sharing fashion to that degree. They are both over 6' and built for all things skinny; they'd look good in a bin bag.

I'm 53yrs old........I like being free and comfy, I like Indian clothes where my fairly decent figure can just be smily and pretty. Maybe I'll pull my jeans out again but at the moment they don't inspire me much.

i clearly remember detesting jeans as a child. i thought they were ugly and uncomfortable.
As an adult, i see them as a way to "blend in" with society, and they're pretty practical for working outdoors.

However, as jeans go, though i might be alone here, i would have to say that my favourite incarnation of denim legwear has been the lowrise jeans.
( i think i may have just committed terrible crimes against English grammar and i am sorry. ) i don't mean so low that you risk exposing the lady parts,
but still well below the natural waist and navel.

my personal pros for lowrise jeans;

* i can wear a corset with this cut of jeans and retain the ability to undress enough to get to the bathroom as needed.

* if my belly decides its gonna swell with hormones , well the jeans still fit because they only reach my hip bones and not my natural waist.

* and generally, this cut of jeans is kindest to females of my body type.

There are many styles of jeans, which is a good thing. The bad thing is when retailers get the idea to only sell one style of jeans,
therefore only benefiting one or a few targetted consumers and neglecting everyone elses' needs.

When I was a kid and went to my cousins' to ride their quarterhorses or rode at summer camp, we always tucked our jeans inside our boots.  Some of the kids at camp wore their straight legs over their boots and we all thought they were nutty.  That was the 80s though.  It's been awhile since I wore straight leg jeans.  Are they skinnier now?
