It's sick crap, but the disabled (veteran or otherwise) often experience this and some veterans (not all or even most) do disrespect other veterans.   I listened to one veteran cuss another saying that his flashbacks were made up since the first veteran  had seen combat in Vietnam and had never experienced any flashbacks.   It's a truly sad day when one combat veteran can't show compassion for another.

I'm fairly knowledgeable about accommodations for the disabled but weighted pens are new to me. He would have done better to call the local advocate for Americans with Disabilities to come and help. And I can't fault the guard for seeing it and thinking it could have been used as a weapon, but he should have called and asked about it also.

I have no problem with him not letting the pen in, my problem is with the rest of the response and the disabled individual has at least one witness backing up his claim of inappropriate behavior.

This said, weighted utensils are common place for people who suffer from tremors.   Here's a link to weighted eating utensils sold for such individuals...

My oldest has some hand tremors. I wonder if she would like one of those for note taking in class. I see they have the grips on them, I used to buy them separately for her pencils and pens. They were helpful but at a young age they set her apart so she didn't like to use them. Thanks for the link.

He went there to do paperwork.

So a pen- is a reasonable item.  I had not heard of a weighted pen until today.

He went there to do paperwork. To avoid paying child support.

Every story has two sides. How about a guy who gets six grand a month who just stays high 24/7/365 ? I know one.

Render your opinions though, enjoy.

There is not enough information to decide whose account presents the truth. While the friend accompanying says that the guard behaved inappropriately,  there seem to be other witnesses who support the guards version. Yes, the guard would have been better of, if he had researched the pen. But how much time does the guard have at hand for things of that sort?

Despite what he was there for, these people are really nuts. You got security, baliffs and whatever else including cops all over the place with guns. You can't bring a gun, even a knife in there.

I think this is to the point they are getting psychological. They want you to feel so stripped, so powerlees and so "naked" that you will submit to anything.

Call me crazy but I don't see what a guy with a pen can do to a roomful of people. Maybe some could, but was this Rambo ?

I have gone thru that security-  and I never had a problem with the guard.   So it does come as a surprise to me.

Actually if it's big enough I could probably make it into a .22 cal. , shitty little rimfire but it could work just fine. Rimefire - yeah we're really worried about reloading.
