Interesting, but weird. Actually I would like to ask why.

For what good ? A social experiment involving kids ? Bigotry of a different form ? That someone is treated diffeerently because of being pregnant ? She will no doubt write a paper on this, I would like to read it.

All the ramifictions of this that could possibly go through my head are irrelevant because I am not female. How would you have reacted being her classmate ? The boys on the other hand, well to be blunt some would not want her because she is pregnant, but maybe others would because they "knew" she would "put out".

She had some sort of goal in doing this. Sure, it could've been simply for extra credit, but I find that hard to believe. How old was her Mother when she was born ? There are many other questions. But there is one thing, there is plenty of teenage pregnancy to go around, they do screw their lives up and once it's done it's that or the abortionist. The other thing is that she wasn't actually pregnant, which I consider a good thing.

The condition of being pregnant when too young is not good. Deal with that in this economy, with an uncompleted education, and it's not going to be completed. My eye doctor was out on maternity leave, it makes for a pain in the ass, and she has a completed education and makes a shitload of money as well as gets maternity leave. I don't think many schools have maternity leave, and would let you continue where you dropped off. It's not really practical.

Yes, it would be very interesting to read what she writes about this experience.

It was wrong.

What she did was the same as what happened with Tuskegee. You may NOT use human subjects for experiments with OUT their written consent.

She used herself as the experiment, which is different. Nor did she cause herself any lasting harm or damage. However what I don't believe she thought about is the effect of her lying on her family and her boyfriend's family. Not being able to believe your sibling or child will cause long lasting problems in the family.

Her mother did know as did her boyfriend and the principal of the school.

I get the why of not letting her siblings or those of her boyfriend know, the secret would have gotten out; they would have told their best friends who would have told someone else.
And perhaps she knew her boyfriend's parents were likely to gossip.

Edit: add link

This wasnt corageous, it almost seems like she wanted attention. It was silly. Noone in their right mind would purposely put themselves through that. If I was her mother I would never have let her do something like that.

Kay, that is your perspective, your opinion. No problem.

You wouldn't believe some of the shit I did when I was a kid.

I don't really understand the point either.  In the interview she mentioned some of the things that were said to and about her - that she wouldn't finish school or go to college, that her life was ruined - and acted as though it was wrong for people to think so.  But that is the reality for many teen mothers, sometimes even those who have a supportive family.  I see it every day here at work, and it saddens me very much.  So what was she trying to prove with this - that people are aware of the consequences of teen pregnancy?  Because that seems to be her result.

(ETA - Kayx, perhaps a darker font color might suit you?  The lighter ones you've been experimenting with are very hard to read against the white background.)

Maxs, maybe you're just not getting the point she was trying to make. Maybe it was a one girl campaign to tell others not to get knocked up until they get out of school. Maybe it was to bring to light another form of bigotry. Maybe she just had an abortion in another state and feels guilty. Maybe one of her friends, yet unmentioned got pregnant and she saw what happened to her.

Like I said, I'm very interested in seeing what she writes about this. Even if you think she is not quite right in the head, she is no dummy and probably has quite a bit to say. None of us can give that type of insight. (well maybe a few)
