I think we're not seeing eye to eye.

Over the last several years, I've come to not trust very much that comes through the press.  The embellishment, the slant, the sensationalism.  I've grown a bit cynical, I think.

It's not that I'm saying the stories aren't true.  It's that I believe the same mindset can be accomplished without those measures.

Im not arguing they cant. But the fact that some are tends to make me believe the waters are not exactly still beneath the surface.

I believe both possibilities are true. Some kids are indoctrinated to believe in their martyrdom. If that doesn't work, there's always dope or coercion.

Yes, hlen, I believe that you are probably correct.  Damn sad in either case, isn't it?

Termyn8or -> RE: Martyrdom (4/22/2011 5:42:10 AM)

Kid was an orphan ? I got a question then - who killed his Parents ? Would you die for someone who killed your Parents ? I wouldn't, I would try to kill those who killed my Parents. Food for thought.

You are told this and that but what REALLY happened ?

I don't think suicide bombers usually work on a timer. If I were threatened into doing a suicide bombing (if that were possible) I would do it - to those who made the threats. Their brainwashing is one thing, but bombs all over the place are usually more convincing. Now just who is it that drops the most bombs in the world ?

I don't buy it.

T^T

Termy I believe we should get out like yesterday! I thought we should stay and clean up the part of the mess that we made, but I don't think that's very doable.

Also, the 13 yo boy orphaned himself by his becoming a suicide bomber. His family has not visited him in the hospital. He's just laying there, waiting for the Taliban to finish the job they started with him. If he is even still alive.

The more people that realize this, the better.

Thank you hlen, for bringing something new to mind.

When I get back into the swing of things, I know what my new nick will be.

"Martyr Dom"

'I will sacrifice myself to whip yer butt, girl!'

I know it doesn't make any logical sense, but the nick is too cool to pass up.

hlen5 -> RE: Martyrdom (4/23/2011 12:03:48 PM)

You go, Dom!! (You're welcome[;)]!)
