BKSir -> RE: J. Crew ad (4/13/2011 11:02:34 PM)

Oh my fucking... REALLY? Some people either need to A: get a life, or B: leave theirs. Seriously. Fuck...

GreedyTop -> RE: J. Crew ad (4/13/2011 11:04:54 PM)

I know, right?   l;ike that one guy said.. young kids think nothing about "gender crossing"..

the kid will be fine no matter what..,.the hot pink will not traumatize him (well, unless Mom shows the pics when he's going to the Prom..LOL)

MaxsBoy -> RE: J. Crew ad (4/13/2011 11:05:48 PM)

Seen it.  I don't even have words for how I feel about that, but I'm sure those who know me here can guess.  As a parent and a transboy...I just have no words.

BonesFromAsh -> RE: J. Crew ad (4/14/2011 4:35:04 AM)

I think the ad is adorable and I think it's sad that adults feel the need to put their own insecurities and gender dogma on children.

quote:

"Yeah, well, it may be fun and games now, Jenna, but at least put some money aside for psychotherapy for the kid—and maybe a little for others who'll be affected by your 'innocent' pleasure," Dr. Keith Ablow wrote in a Fox News op-ed. "If you have no problem with the J. Crew ad, how about one in which a little boy models a sundress? What could possibly be the problem with that?"

After reading the above quote from the link, I feel the need to send a copy of William's doll to "Dr." Ablow and a few other folks.

DomImus -> RE: J. Crew ad (4/14/2011 6:32:42 AM)

I really don't care about the ad or the outcry. I wish shit like this was the biggest issue I had to worry about in life.

sunshinemiss -> RE: J. Crew ad (4/14/2011 6:44:12 AM)

Seriously? There are stupid people everywhere. Sadly, some of of them are psychologists on Fox...

ChatteParfaitt -> RE: J. Crew ad (4/14/2011 7:04:25 AM)

The media whore Doctor really ticked me off. It's that kind of rabble rousing by supposed experts that give the entire profession a bad name.

Just last Tuesday, my therapist told me she helped her daughter (who's six) paint the entire family's toenails (this included dad) a bright blue in celebration of the great spring weather we are having.

Thankfully, not all psychologists are so narrow minded.

GreedyTop -> RE: J. Crew ad (4/14/2011 7:10:54 AM)

yay for her, Chatte!

:)   (if I wouldnt get chastised at work, I found a totally yummy shade of blue polish...)

LaTigresse -> RE: J. Crew ad (4/14/2011 7:23:12 AM)

I would go with green..........for spring!

GreedyTop -> RE: J. Crew ad (4/14/2011 7:24:18 AM)

Ok, maybe a dark green... goes with most skin tones...

(how's Mo?)

LaTigresse -> RE: J. Crew ad (4/14/2011 8:56:03 AM)

Mo has been busy filling his belly with green.

Yep...the kid is going to need big bucks for therapy, huh?

What grabbed my attention when i first saw the ad was not the kids feet, but the gorgeous smiles on the faces of him and his mom.
Per the ad she is a career woman, but it is evident to me that she is not a stranger to her child or the type of "mother" who pays nannies and sitters so the little one doesn't interfere with her business/social life. A distant mom does not give or get that type of smile.

Of course none of us know for sure, but that kid looks like a happy, healthy, well adjusted child.

GO MOM!!!!!

I would too, but I believe the child picked the color.  Blue is her favorite. Is that kid fricked up, or what? A GIRL being allowed to have BLUE as her favorite color !!

Who ARE these people? I'm a lil creeped out that such ludicrous homophobics are in the same human race.

GreedyTop -> RE: J. Crew ad (4/14/2011 10:14:53 AM)

*gasp*  stone her!!

*rolls eyes*

I agree...totally genderphobic, actually, IMO..

ChatteParfaitt -> RE: J. Crew ad (4/14/2011 11:02:22 AM)

Yes, I agree. Genderphobic to a degree it's homophobic, or at least it seemed that way to me.

calamitysandra -> RE: J. Crew ad (4/14/2011 2:11:49 PM)

Spending time with her child? How could she? [8|]

I painted Youngest fingernails today, btw.

DykeNoir -> RE: J. Crew ad (4/14/2011 3:34:04 PM)

A perfect definition of carrying things a bit too far. Make that way t far.
The pity of it is they could care less they might be hurting real people.
