I have only missed one connecting flight ever, but it was the most significant one. I used to love flying, but not so much since. I was flying for the first time, to Norway; I found the shortest time/flights to get there. I got into an airplane in my hometown, and we sat there for 3 hours without moving, because there was ?a weather problem in Newark. I was so irritated, and considered faking a heart attack, but didn't want to go to jail, so I dealt. I've avoided *ontinental airlines ever since.

I don't know about the megabus, as have only ridden greyhound, without issues. Most of the time, the control freak in me would prefer to drive, if it's less than 6 hours, than take public transportation. M

Hi OP
I love the megabus--I take it all the time from Baltimore up to NYC.

A few things about megabus though--
"Prime time" trips are often completely crowded/sold out, so if that bothers you, either take an off-hour time slot, or consider travel on a day other than a saturday or sunday, which are often most popular.  Unpopular hours often tend to be the cheapest too.  I did catch a $6 ticket to NYC leaving at 5:30am. it was worth it.

Get there EARLY.  In my experience, the megabus has come earlier than the time on the ticket....and they do not wait around.  Sometimes, if they know that the buses are coming back to back, they will board you on the earlier bus, particularly if the buses are very packed.  I now know that if my bus is scheduled to leave at 7:15,  I get there at 6:30.  A few times, the bus was actually well on the road before it was even the posted departure time.

For long treks, keep snacks/protein bars/etc with you because even if you stop at a bus depot, you won't have time to get out and get food.  Even if the driver gets out, don't risk it.  They wait for no one!

Last tip:  Best seat in the bus is on the second level (they have 2-story buses) in the very front--gives you the most leg room and best view!
