I didn't understand the article's statement that the crises in the Middle East and Japan will damage the US economy. To my way of thinking, the fact that they are no longer desirable tourist destinations, and the fact that Japan needs lots of emergency services/equipment, will actually help the US economy.

The only issue is that a lot of electronics will be stopped because of reliance on Japanese parts.

Nissan is still having problems getting parts that used to come from there. I would think it would help if they find US suppliers to buy from instead.

The unemployment chart doesn't do much for me. I think it's great that the rest of the country is getting jobs, but I don't see a lot of it around here yet. I will be glad when I am done with school and can get into a permanent job situation.

I guess it points up the abject failure of the house.   Nevertheless, more help is needed to put this country to work, and it wont come in the form of giveaways to the wealthy.

Here is a very interesting recent graph:

It is a matter of interpretation, of course, but it indicates the job creation is largely imaginary.

You don't need a graph, just listen to Obama the last two days. He so carefully avoids the jobs report that its a tacit admission that he and his advisors were totally wrong about the stimulus package, just as they were wrong about every other economic policy theyve tried.
