Yupper, them Southerners are the most racist.

Look how many southern cities are on this list of top 10 most segregated.

What is the point of this?
I know, I know, just stay out if I don't like it. *I'm going, I'm going, relax!* M

The area I live in is fairly racially intergrated.Mostly whites and blacks. There are some other races too of course.I live in a "Southern" city.I saw more racism when I was in a small town in upstate NY than anywhere else I can remember.

Same here. North Chili/Churchville, then Brockport/Holley/Albion.

BTW, there's only one race. I proved that to Popeye just before he ran away from the thread in cowardice the other day.

I live in Marietta, a suburb of ATL. It ain't nearly as bad as Buffalo, segregation-wise. There's a black couple around the corner from me, in this most white of subdivisions, where Newtshit used to live. I know, I sold em' the house. Hope I really pissed some of these Ofays off. >cackle<)

The most segregated city? Milwaukee. The punk Walker vigorously opposed light rail when he was county executioner. Little fuckweasel.

Just shooting holes in some common theories held by folks that dont know any better. It's amazing how many people see Tennessee or Kentucky or Carolina or GA, etc on the location of a person and they assume "Oh, he's a Southern Racist" and you are treated as such automatically.

Scott Walker and David Duke (Oh, fuck! What have I done??? I posted a link! Jeezus, sorry Aneirin!) [sm=donttaseme.gif]

Berkely, Calif. and Cambridge, Mass.

mefisto69 -> RE: Most segregated cities. (4/2/2011 2:37:32 AM)

what seems to be closest to the norm in this country ( due to my travels) - is that the further away from a metropolitan area, the higher the level of fear towards 'outsiders' and 'others'.

I almost hesitate to ask, but precisely what is it about this information that troubles you so?

Is there a cherished myth that is at stake here?

Is there something in your own r/l personal experience that  is in opposition to or negates in some way the reality presented in the article referenced in the OP?

If that is the case, then 'going away' would be the worst thing to do. You will find the biggest champion of r/l vs. 'presented reality' here, so any procession in that regard would find stout support proceeding further.

What is the point in the semi-regular race-baiting and "pointless" (except they aren't 'pointless', let that sink in) bashings of the US SE region that recur here, and why does none of the belligerent bigotry in those instances garner the response of "what is the point of this?" from your side? Rather, in fact running after and hopping aboard that particular anachronistic band wagon?

Well, good information is good information, at least for those who seek and appreciate it in the first place.

Taking notice of the many many people who wordlessly abide the several "fuck the South!" links placed on this forum, fully accepted by the moderators (noted), and not once the remark of "what is the point of this?" from any putative 'champions' of the struggle against bigotry and ignorance, the truly interesting thing would be for you to explain just what is behind your obvious anger in the instance of the article referenced in the OP.

In the historical "truth vs. myth" battle, myth unfortunately wins out in the political arena far too often.

But this is the internet, where people who actually know what they're talking about creep up every once in awhile, mass media be damned.

So then, if you wish to point out the obvious, that the article in the OP is 'pointless' insofar as it stands against prevailing and ever pervasive myth, then  go ahead.

If you want to catch up to reality, then read and learn.
