I find myself really interested in the subspace pain-is pleasure response and enhancing it.
I've done a little midnight research.
As I think we all know, subspace, (floaty head) is an interesting state involving the release of endorphins, adrelaline and enkephalins during a state of Oh Dear I am Being Overwhelmed By a Big Strong Alpha.
you float, feel more focussed on your partner, more receptive, giving, ect and your pain tolerance goes up. you also feel fantastic, and wonderfully giving and full of light and stuff.
so
a little midnight research turned up a nutritional supplement called D- Phenylalanine - available from heath food store
It blocks the breakdown of endorphins , the 'runners high' natural opiate chemical that allows us to endure pain ...
D-Phenylalanine is a health food supplement marketed to deal with headaches, migrane ect, by allowing natural endorphins to hang around longer.
I wonder whether it can be used to enhance submissive pain resistance.- probably.
I have to try this..

Seems highly likely that if it does what it claims to do then it will do what you want. Do report back.

Yes please let us know how it works, though I may have a sub try it either way.

I can't imagine for one second that M would be interested....lol

When he's doling out pain that's exactly what he is intending.

also even in space should the pain become too much for the body your reactions will show interfere with the bodies natural responses could mean physical damage to you that you may not wish for or want

Quite interesting,

Make sure you dont use D- Phenylalanine in combination with blood pressure raising medicines.
And when you buy it check the concentration. Also be careful you dont get addicted to this stuff, alot of pain relieving medicines
are addicting, people are underestimating it all the time.

I have to ask though - if you don't want pain to be painful, why choose to experience it at all?

I'm not trying to be judgemental, just trying to understand. There are so many ways to experience pleasure, even that floaty, lovely, 'mmmm, everything is so wonderful I'm being dominated by a big strong man who is so sexy to me' feeling. If that is your purpose, why not stick to light, sensual s&m, rather than seeking to convert heavier play through the use of drugs?

If I'm reading this right, I believe the OP is looking for ways enhance and prolong the whole "subspace" experience, and hers is brought on by pain. But I agree, if your body is preventing you from taking heavy play, you need to slow down.

On the other hand... Am I the only one who saw "Pain Suppression" and immediately thought "Discipline Priest?" Probably... [&o]

I think she's talking about the chemical release that occurs with heavy play.
As far as dealing with it I'm very curious to know if D-Phenylalanine works, but I know for a fact pain can be managed by the mind I wonder if there will be a placebo effect when you experiment with it.
You might want to have your play partner do a blind experiment by putting lactose in one gel cap and D-Phenylalanine in another and record observations. That way you can get a more accurate assessment of it's effects.

Nope, though I tend to lean more towards shamans when I play a healer.
