That is so Newt Gingrich.......get over it.

So we are going to help affect regime change without taking responsibility for any really nasty mess that might develop due to the inevitable power vacuum once Gadaffi is gone.

You continue to amaze me Sanity.

Why weren't you asking that question about Iraq?

You're missing the point. We have classically had two responses - ignore, and jump in completely. Obama's response is to ASSIST in a multinational effort. He's also made no secret that the US involvement will not last long. Your response indicates that you think America should call the shots and singlehandedly drive things.

We're in a supporting role. We're not the star of this one.

I hope that proves to be true, but I have a nasty feeling this is going to escalate.

I would be perfectly justified if I skip over your question, most of your questions, because bizarrely, you simply ignore the widely accepted reality.

Bush was very clear in that we would assume responsibility for rebuilding Iraq. Ask yourself how much blood sweat tears and treasure have we invested to rebuild there? We didnt just bomb Iraq, remove Saddam from power and then walk away and leave Iraq to al-Qaeda and Iran to exploit.

But Libya, we are just going to create a power vacuum in Libya then walk away?

This is ludicrous enough, I will not comment on the rest of the insidious asswipe of the post.

Ask yourself how many teats we have invested in us.  Here is a couple W vetos:

May 1, 2007: Vetoed H.R. 1591, U.S. Troop Readiness, Veterans' Care, Katrina Recovery,
October 3, 2007: Vetoed H.R. 976, Children's Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act of 2007 ("SCHIP").
December 12, 2007: Vetoed H.R. 3963, Children's Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act of 2007
July 15, 2008: Vetoed H.R. 6331, Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act.

Let's see now, the curious cases of republicans wanting to bust unions, constantly eschewing infrastructure improvements, societal improvements....

But the bottom line, as saviours of the great nation of Iraq, and 10 years in, why is that grateful nation still fucking bombing us and killing us, every day?  Was it something we did, or said?

You just go round and round like a dog chasing its tail, dont you. Weve been here before, you ask these same questions repeatedly despite having been provided the answers previously.

Again

Very nicely indeed.

You remember how Iraq was before, right?

So, we get rid of Kadaffy and help al qeada?

Brain -> RE: Fareed Zakariah on Obama's Libya strategy. (3/26/2011 2:29:14 PM)

Because of all the new democracies in the Middle East Al Qaeda will be unnecessary and it is Bin Laden’s nightmare. And there is already a temporary government in eastern Libya established that has nothing to do with Al Qaeda.

Obama on Libya: "We're succeeding in our mission"

Obama said Saturday that Libya's air defenses have been "taken out" and forces loyal to Moammar Gadhafi have been pushed back from cities where the people have risen up against him. A humanitarian catastrophe has also been avoided, he said. "We're succeeding in our mission," Obama said in his weekly radio and Internet address.

His remarks served as a warm-up for a planned speech to the nation Monday explaining his decision-making. Both addresses follow complaints from lawmakers of both parties that the president hasn't sought their input or hasn't clearly explained U.S. participation in the mission.

Obama argued Saturday that the mission in Libya is clear and focused, with the U.S. and its allies and partners working together to enforce a U.N. Security Council mandate to protect the Libyan people from forces loyal to Gadhafi.

Brain, normally I believe Salon's stories.  But here, you're stating that Al Qaeda has not succeeded in Libya or any of the other ME democracies.

Not only are there no new ME democracies, but there's no telling at this point what government styles they'll choose.  Or, if it IS democracy, whether Al Qaeda will be in on it or not.  You're claiming the end result of situations that are nowhere near resolved.

The best of all possible worlds is if they go for democratic governments that are pro-Western and pro-Israel and are representative of the people and stable.

I'm assuming that it will take from 5 to 20 years for things to settle down in each country.
