LillyBoPeep -> fast reply? why? (3/22/2011 9:12:04 PM)

this is something i've always wondered and you can't search for it because "fast reply" is in so many threads! haha

why do some people denote a "fast reply?"
if you're one who does, care to explain? =p
i actually REALLY want to know. =p

tazzygirl -> RE: fast reply? why? (3/22/2011 9:19:01 PM)

~FR

When I post that, I mean a fast reply... which means to no one specifically, and to the thread in general. Otherwise, the person who posted before me is under the impression I am posting to them specifically.

i always thought "fast reply" meant that a poster was responding to the OP, without necessarily reading the whole thread. If that is the case, most of my replies are fast replies, i'm just too lazy to say so.

Ditto to all of the above.

tiggerspoohbear -> RE: fast reply? why? (3/22/2011 9:49:22 PM)

I'll type in ~FR~ when I remember to do so.  And I hardly ever remember to do it.  Why? Cuz my memory stinks.  That and I just start to type, most of the time not intending a reply to the post above mine, just a general reply.  Or I'll address it to the OP.  Depends on the subject at hand.  Here, not so much, since it's mostly for fun.

If it's a serious reply, then I'll take the time to hit the reply button to the post I'm referring to, or refer to the OP if that's the case.

Arpig -> RE: fast reply? why? (3/22/2011 9:53:50 PM)

~FR~
What they all said. Actually there was a thread about it a loooong time ago, and there was a general consensus on that thread that prefacing a fast reply with ~FR~ to denote that it was not directed to the previous poster (which the system says it is) was a good idea in order to avoid confusion.

~FR~
Even Mods sometimes use ~FR~ to let people know that our post is to everyone on the thread, not any one poster in particular. [;)]

I agree with the above responses.

Thanks for asking the question. I had wondered myself, but never got around to making an inquiry.

Yup that's when EVERYBODY'S being bad. LOL

Actually I recommend a new one - JT, for jumpthrough. Some threads move pretty fast and I see something right at the beginning that needs a response, IMO of course......

Maybe we need a list, the need for FR seems peculiar to this software. Actually now that this FR issue is pretty much explained, getting a list going on this thread wouldn't be so much of a hijack. It took me a while just to figure out what WIITWD means :-)
