You can't delete any of your posts. Only the Mods can. Within a certain time frame however, you can edit it. (I think you have an hour window to edit a post).

The usual thing to do is to erase all the text and replace it with 'nm' - short for never mind.

Usually when that happens to me, I edit everything out and replace it with VC...

Cuz I am just Vaguely Curious about the topic and the post was just knee jerk reaction anyway.
