Do you lubs them, or not

I love, love, love knitted socks (though I love all socks, as long as they arent pink) but in particular knitted ones.

It might have to do with it as my great grandma knitted socks for us up to the age of 95 when I was 11 (she died 2 years later), so it carries her memories for me. Now with being better at knitting I also decided to knit socks for 2 of my friends in germany as well as their 3 daughters and one CM who hasn't got a clue to get them later this year....(unless I run out of energy to do them).

Also as a CM friend who isnt on the boards said quite rightly that such personally made pressies are often nicer than bought stuff (and as those 3 kiddies will just be 2 and 3 years old theirs will be done in no time).

A few years ago an elderly neighbour which we did not know that much gave my mum and me a pair she made for christmas which felt incredible nice (she gave them to mum as mum gave around some of her made biscuits) and I do hope to still have them back home...

So what about you? You like knitted socks or not Do you knit socks? Did you have someone in the past knitting socks for you?

Awwww! I love how a simple knit sock can make you feel such love!

I'm not a huge fan of socks myself, but when I do wear them, I like
the dainty little anklets.

i wear cotton ankle socks and for as long as i remember they have to be odd. wearing a 'pair' pair of socks just makes my day feel all wrong and they have to be very odd too. however, when the weather is good i'm most likely to be barefoot at all times that i can be. i most certainly can not wear socks, or any clothing for that matter, in bed. as for knitted socks; that's just far too much sock for me.

Lol, thats funny "far too much sock".

I do agree in regards to wearing socks in bed, I can't do that either. It regularly made me shake my head at my previous employer when some folks sent the guys to bed with socks...in a few cases ok, they might prefer it or have easily cold feet but I also know a person who suffered a lot from atheletes foot and somewhat I am pretty sure that she is better off with not wearing socks in bed

I don't mind bare foot at times, but in general i prefer to have socks on.

Back home a colleague made fun out of me 10 years ago that I have more socks than she and her daugther together well.....there is something true about that

A friend over here gave me a lil pressy to my graduation and unknown to her she made me very happy indeed...as it, amongst other stuff, consisted with 5 new pairs of socks She made my day big time

I la-la-loveeeeeeeee fun socks. Not the plain, ordinary socks... or the thin little trouser socks... but the awesome, fun, crazy socks!!!! AND! I am particularly partial to knee highs and thigh highs. I do believe I have some pics in my profile showing my love for them. ;)

Some of the craxy ones I like too, but not that heavily...most of my socks are just plain coloured

It's all good! :) I'm kind of crazy that way though anyway... I like wearing striped socks with plaid dresses or whatever else. Funky mis-match stuff. :)

Indeed

Just wish they wouldn't play hide and seek all the time once i put them into the washing maschine

I can't wait to have more time hopefully soon to get started my various projects which I have in my planning, such as those knitted socks (which are at least 7 pairs I need to get done until xmas) 2 tops for my friends kids also for xmas, and the adventskalendar for my ex as well as for my nephew....get the impression I will never get the jumper done which "I" want

But yep...long live Socks, don't need a man in my life as long as I have socks

A friend's mom knitted house slippers for me, years ago when I was in 8th grade and lived in Wyoming for a year, and a knitted purse.

I can knit hats (the instructions for the Knifty Knitter was easy) and scarves but am a one trick pony when it comes to stitches, and cannot knit sox.  I wish wish wish I could.  Bought several knitting and crochet books that I haven't waded deeply into yet, as the beginnings are scary.  My dyslexia goes nuts when I read the instructions and counting rows would be a nightmare, but someday...I will torture myself long enough to learn.  Hopefully I will make a friend here in this town who is into this and I will be able to watch.  I learn some things better by watching than by looking at diagrams in books.

Mom crochets a little, but when I've asked her to show me how, she says how simple it is...and barely gets past showing me some chain stitch before my brain goes nuts on all the chaos that follows.  I think I would crawl across broken glass to learn how to knit lace.

I would make myself some screaming yellow Pikachu sox <whimpers>.

At least I can sew.

Do you mean socks with the yellow pikachu on it or did you mean socks as yellow as pikachu?

I also wanted to learn it from mum when I was younger but she wasnt very helpful. Instead of showing me how to cast on etc. she did the cast on as well as the heel and the toes from my socks and just let me do the cuff and the part on the foot between toes and heel...

At present I teach myself via online instruction videos, so if I am stuck with instructions in the book I google it for online videos where I can clearly see how it is done and that works better for me than I expected

Yes, I love knitted sox.
I get great contentment when I come home in the winter and can put on my plushy fleece jammies and a nice pair of knitted sox. I mostly wear them around the house in the winter instead of slippers. For everyday wear, I like delicate, pretty sox like poisse posted a pic of.

My Gramma was a knitter too and it brings back nice memories of all the different sox she knitted me to match my outfits. She tried to teach me to knit, but all i can make is sox and scarves.
