D'fhéadfá a bheith i bhflaitheas leath uair an chloig roimh a fhios ag an Diabhail bhfuil tú marbh.

May you be in heaven half an hour before the Devil knows you're dead

May those that love us, love us. And those that do not love us, may God turn their hearts. If He does not turn their hearts, may He turn their ankles so we may know them by their limping.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

GreedyTop -> RE: Happy St-Patty's Day (3/17/2011 7:00:13 AM)

just a thought:  why is a celebration for a Saint marked by wanton drunkeness?

(not that there's anything wrong with that.....lol)

May you have warm words on a cold evening,
A full moon on a dark night,
And the road downhill all the way to your door.

Because they're Irish... wanton drunkeness is how they celebrate everything from marriage and the birth of a child all the way down to a successful clipping of the toenails. [:)]

Do you think there is any truth to the old saying that God invented whiskey to prevent the Irish from taking over the world? [8D]

It was that or eat potatoes in celebration, Patrick being a bit of a swigger himself.

This is so true. I once worked for an Irish-owned minicab/courier company and it was a running joke that a 'yes' answer to the question 'Is the boss in?' usually needed an indication of which bar in which pub.

Arpig -> RE: Happy St-Patty's Day (3/17/2011 10:55:33 AM)

Happy St. Patrick's one and all. Know what really annoys me about St. Patrick's day? I love Irish music, and Irish beer is my favourite....mmm loves my Guinness. St. Patrick's day should be one of my favourite days, but it isn't. For various reasons, running from financial to work or family obligations...I have not been able to actually do anything to celebrate St. Patrick's in something like 25 years (long enough that I can't remember exactly how long). I am always broke or busy...pisses me off sometimes. So, since once again this year I find myself unable to participate...all those who do go out to celebrate, have a pint for me...hell have a few for me.

NocturnalStalker -> RE: Happy St-Patty's Day (3/17/2011 11:59:05 AM)

This is a terrible day.  As being apart of the straight-edge society you should all feel ashamed for celebrating a day that promotes intoxication and drunk-driving.

I think instead of alcohol you should all celebrate with a nice healthy glass of milk!  A champion's drink!  If you're lactose-intolerant then I guess you're a mutant and should just stick to water.

A celebration of ones heritage does not equate to drunk driving and i resent the hell out of the implication.

(raises a pint of Harps and calls you a jerk)
