Misxariez -> Hello, new domme looking for a teacher (3/9/2011 8:58:19 AM)

I am very new to the scene, and would really like a little guidance with being a domme. Anyone willing to teach?

Best of luck on your journey. I have found many helpful topics in the forums. Answers to questions I never even thought to ask. You should have a look around.

Welcome, why not approach one of the large establishments that employs a number of Mistresses and see if they can help you!

Welcome to the forums.

If you're looking for teachers, My best recommendation is to seek some out in your local BDSM community.  These forums are great for background research, but it's nothing like learning things hands on.

Personally, I would suggest just being yourself. Being a dominator is highly intrinsic and I don't think anybody can teach you that - and as far as practices go, you will learn with practical experience while working on a sub. Watching or reading about other people's practices is also a good way of progressing.
Other than that, a bit of medical knowledge (if you are into sadistic activities) certainly helps. For Shibari/Ropeplay, personally, I found it far more interesting to learn those arts from people who use them in real life work (mariners, for instance).

AH, thank you everyone!!!!!!! Yes I want to learn more about ropeplay for sure!

Welcome to CM and the boards.  Learning on your sub as you go along is not the best advice if you're going to indulge in any implement play.  Better to attend demos or try things out on yourself before you go ahead.  Reason for this is obvious, you don't want to cause any physical or emotional damage to your submissive.  Good luck.

subtoyjay -> RE: Hello, new domme looking for a teacher (4/22/2011 6:23:23 AM)

i guess it all kinda depends on what you want to learn, the practical techniques (like knots, how to apply weights, how to use a stinging nettle and so on), safety procedures so that neither you nor your sub come to harm not intended, tipps on how to mind control and general personality and behavior theories, where to buy the best whips, where to find people in your area and so on, there are many many things that make a good domme, but i think you mentioned in a chat earlier that you are switch or were and hence you were a sub yourself at some point which in my opinion is great as you at least understand the other side a bit, tho now after trying it myself as a sub for some time i must say... LAZY SUBS!!! :P so much work for tops and they dont have to do much at all...

just try to refine your question id say and thou shalt find an answer m'lady ;)

HannahLynHeather -> RE: Hello, new domme looking for a teacher (4/23/2011 12:52:44 AM)

i think i'm a pretty damn good domme (Me too!), but you're not going to like what i have to say. i spent about several years as a more or less freelance sub to a bunch of different dominants, and then 3 years serving a mistress. each and everyone had their own style, with its strengths and weaknesses. what i did was study them all.then i took the good bits and adopted them into my way of doing things, and avoided the shitty bits. now, unless you have several years to devote to study before you start domming, i suggest you do what the others here suggested.

welcome to the top side

I can't teach you anything about being a domme but I can show you where to buy clothes.

If you want to learn about roleplay, I'd be happy to help you.  I have 20+ years of theater and roleplaying experience in a variety of venues.  If you have the option, I highly recommend taking an acting class through your local university or getting involved in community theater.  This experience will help you when it comes time to set a scene with sub and will help you stay "in character" while you're playing.
