DarkSteven -> Tea Party not big on compromise. (3/3/2011 8:07:09 AM)

Tea Party Nation founder Judson Phillips is raking Boehner over the coals and threatening to mount a primary challenge against him.  http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2011/03/02/tea-party-leader-boehner-looks-like-a-fool-should-be-defeated-in-a-primary/#more-148837

I was wondering how the GOP would deal with the Tea Party when the elections were over.  The GOP wants to co-opt the Tea Party's energy while still working within the system.  That may not be possible.

The "system" itself is collapsing. These are  small cuts compared to the budget but the areas chosen to cut affect a big number of poor people. The Tea Party is not so big problem.

I have said this since the whole teabagger thing started, it is going to be a lot more of a problem for Republicans than Democrats.

Looks like you're being proven right on that one.
It would be very wrong of me to find this funny, wouldn't it?
[:D]

Considering your long and sordid history with tea and yanks, I should think we can give you a pass on this one.

EternalHoH -> RE: Tea Party not big on compromise. (3/3/2011 10:37:02 AM)

The tea people are blind to the fact that its Wall Street, and not democrats or republicans, who are running this country into the ground.

Most of the deregulation causing today's problems was instigated by rural voters mostly, those very people living in "flyover territory".

Pretty soon, after the tea party castigates poor people, democrats and then republicans, and the ruinous tide still does not shift because nothing has changed on Wall Street, who will be next for them to target?  Educated people?

Everybody BUT the real problem.

It looks like the Teapartiers are on their way to becomming a third party.
I think it's a good thing that some Republicans don't like them.

truckinslave -> RE: Tea Party not big on compromise. (3/3/2011 3:27:59 PM)

Compromise got us where we are.

I doubt it very highly.

My guess is five years from now the teabaggers will be just a bad memory.

Remember Obamas idea of compromise? Shut up and sit down in the back of the bus.And Pelosis version of compromise? She locked the Republicans out of the process.

This would be in regards to the 'Party of No', right? If Republicans actually compromised rather then behave like little, spoiled rich kids, we might get stuff done. Right now, Republicans will not 'give and take' on any issue, but instead, only 'take'.

Back when the Health Care Reform debate was going on, Republican pissed away a golden oppurnity to argue for Immigration Reform. Democrats get Health Care the way they want it, and Republicans get Immigration Reform the way they want it. Unfortunately, that would have taken intelligence and wisdom, two traits that Republicans are not often accused of having.

Still not convinced that Republicans only 'take' and not 'give and take'? Check out the history from Wisconsin. The Unions agreed to the cuts and increase health costs that the Governor wanted. Did that satify him or the Republicans in goverment? Course not, because that's not a democracy or republic in Wisconsin, that's a dictatorship! Even now, Mr. Dictator himself, is trying to use the police as his private army to hunt down Democrats in another state, and arrest them for failing to obey his will. Does that sound like the mentality of someone that is open to 'give and take'? Or just 'take'?

Comprises did not get us where we are today, truckin. Voters did. They (conservatives & moderates) voted for George W. Bush....TWICE. During those eight years, the US debt rose from a 'pokey' $2 Trillion and change, to over $11 Trillion in 2008. You want to blame people for our problems as a nation? Go blame the ones who voted that idiot in to office during....EITHER....election.

truckinslave -> RE: Tea Party not big on compromise. (3/4/2011 5:10:41 AM)

14 trillion dollar debt and a 4 billion dollar budget that's 1/4 deficit. 9+% unemployment.

ANY "Immigration Reform" reform measure I've heard talked about would result in the turnover of at least half of those who voted for it, with losses being greater for Rs than Dims. The whole idea is political suicide until we CLOSE THE FUCKING BORDERS and enough Rs damned well have sufficient "wisdom and intelligence" that it just ain't gonna happen.
