Student calls police after teacher rattles table

An eighth-grade math teacher at Atherton's Selby Lane School rattled a table to get his students' attention Tuesday afternoon, police said.

A female student who was startled (because, obviously, she was one of the students not paying attention in class) walked out and called police to report a teacher causing a disturbance.

Redwood City School District Deputy Superintendent John Baker said the teacher will remain on leave pending an investigation.

File under Lunatic and Asylum News.

No kidding seriously the kid should be taken to jail or cited for misuse of police time. Rattling a table a disturbance well fuck a duck. I don't think well maybe I do think we should go back to when I was in catholic school as a kid and the Nuns with their rules who would whack it on your desk or knuckles if you werent paying attention to the lesson. Im so sick of the pussification that our country is going thru.

She should consider herself VERY fortunate she was not one of my children.

Officers went to the campus at 2:26 p.m. to check on reports of a teacher causing a disturbance in a classroom and possibly throwing objects, said Sgt. Tim Lynch of the Atherton Police Department. When officers arrived, however, they found a calm teacher with class in session and determined nothing had been thrown.

Heaven help this child when she gets out in the real world. [8|]

What utter nonsense. Police should have held the student pending the arrival of a parent for misuse of police time and resources and the school district should be supporting the teacher.

As a child of the NYC school system i vividly recall teachers who while writing on a blackboard with their back to the class could pinpoint someone chatting or passing notes, wheel around and nail them with the piece of chalk in their hand from across the room. The aim and execution were impeccable, leaving the student to explain to their parents why their hair or clothes were streaked in chalk (not a fun conversation for the student), and by the third or fourth week of the school year the need for the teacher to demonstrate their marksmanship fell off dramatically.

She should have be arrested for misuse of police time. Kind of like calling 911 unecessarily.

I could throw out a few choice words....but everybody else has said it in a more politically correct fashion.... I agree with everyone above!

This is Atherton, ffs.  Those folks have waaaaaay too much money and time on their hands (it's where the old-time venture capital and early founder's-options people live.)  Trust me, they ain't like ordinary folks!

Actually the article said she called 911 to report her emergency of the rattled table.  When the police got there they found a calm teacher at the front of the classroom teaching his class.  The teacher was put on administrative leave because the police came.

If I were the girl's parent she'd lose her cell phone forever.  She would also have to write a paper on the meaning of 911 and write apoligies to the teacher, the police, and the school administrators for being such an idiot.

Hillwilliam -> RE: Signs of the Times (3/2/2011 6:53:42 PM)

Why wasn't that little juvenile delinquent bitch arrested for making a false report?

That is what I'd like to know too.

Holy crap! We obviously need more federal money poured into that school district!

And in all seriousness, that teacher needs to be reinstated immediately.

You cant call her an idiot. You might hurt her self esteem. You are supposed to make excuses for her and point out how no one is perfect so she can go away happy and do more stupid shit. At least that's how it seems to go.
