I can't decide whether this is funny or just plain sad.

Charlie Sheen says he wants a raise to return to show

NEW YORK – Charlie Sheen says he wants a raise to come back to the CBS show "Two and a Half Men."

The troubled star appeared on dueling morning show interviews Monday to continue an attack on CBS and producers of his hit sitcom for shutting down the show because of his off-set behavior. Both ABC's "Good Morning America" and NBC's "Today" show featured him in their first half hours.

NBC interviewer Jeff Rossen appeared startled when Sheen said he wanted to be paid $3 million an episode to return to the show. He's reportedly paid $1.8 million an episode now, one of the highest-paid actors on television.

"You want a raise?" Rossen asked.

Replied Sheen: "Yeah, look what they put me through."

It is incredibly sad.

He keeps talking about his brain, as if it is somehow magical and in other parts of the interview he talks about how he is invincible.

He is entirely unable to see that he is only viewing things things through the magical thinking of addiction. Like many addicts and alcoholics, his specialness is likely going to kill him someday.

I lost a good friend last Tuesday to the complications related to his life-long battle with alcoholism.

Pancreatitis for years which caused pain so severe he was on methadone, neuropathy and muscle atrophy along with other things caused by chronic malnutrition, liver disease which finally contributed to 2 heart attacks and then multiple organ failure.
It might not have been a horrible death (he never regained consciousness after the second heart attack), but the things leading up to it were awful and now his family is dealing with the loss of it all.

It's very sad. But, with the entertainment (and don't get me going on sports) industry willing to pay you $1.8 million an episode and hot women throwing themselves at you every day in spite of living your life like a douchebag, maybe those rewards do make you feel "special"?

Now, if it was up to me, I'd write Emilio into the show as the other brother/uncle and pick things up right where they left off. it's not like his character is irreplaceable. And with the "half man" pretty much having reached adulthood, they need some new storylines.

Le show, c'est moi. If I were one of his costars, writers, directors, hell even someone who sells advertising for the show, I'd be pissed that he is taking complete credit for the show's success.

Write the idiot out of the script and go on with life.

They built the show around him. There was an article recently about how the show came about, and they said "hey, a child in degenerates life could make for some good comedy" and Charlie's name came up.

Funny show, but doubt it will ever return.

Can't help suspecting this is all a huge ploy to boost viewing figures...

My response would be simple - face, door, street, put them together.

I folded a short movie last year because of something similar here.

If anything, I would say that acting is arguably the hardest and toughest profession to become established that there is. I would say that the music industry would come second, but generally musicians and singers come prepared and are more open to working with others. Most actors you come across give off the attitude 'it's all about me'. .. Only a minority actually get to work their way up through the industry.

..as can be seen in the above example. The director did the right thing in my opinion. You can always find another actor, and this is what some of them forget.

It's important to remember that the most important person on a production isn't the actor, it isn't the director, nor the producer. It's the audience.

I couldn't care less about this guy. I feel bad for the other people who work for that show. I believe the number is close to 200.. He f**ked them, not CBS.

The crew will be OK.  Warner brothers is paying them for the last 4 weeks of work anyway.  The executive producer old Charlie is pissed at is the one who arranged it.

Stamos denies he was approached. Yeah the publicist quit, but with the trainwreck that is happening, who can blame him.

I do not expect the return of the show, and I also expect Sheen will blow the spot on Major League 3 as well.

Charlie plays a vain, womanizing drunk who speaks of doing the occasional drug in a sitcom that most people allow their chidlins to see as 'entertainment' yet if he does those very things in real life he is crucified for it?  Eeesh who cares what he does.  It isn't like he is a fireman, a preacher, a school teacher or a brain surgeon and anyone's life should depend on his sanity.  I mean, really, they didn't even change his name written in for his character.

Yet, he should just shut up and let this ride.  At this point it is more of a weird sense of principal that his 'people' betrayed him in the press.  I am surprised he gives a chit at all being that both his life and his work revolve around his art imitating life or visa versa.

He has to stop trying to justify what he does in his time off as not their business when he clearly now wants every detail in the spotlight.

Just saw this:

Sheen: 'My efforts' helped get pay for 'Men' crew AP – 27 mins ago

He remained under contract for a ninth season of the show, and has demanded a pay raise of $3 million per episode for a 10th season. "I've got a whole family to support and love," he told ABC. "People beyond me are relying on that. I'm here to collect. They're going to lose. They're going to lose in a courtroom, so I would recommend that they settle out of court."

Unfortunately he doesn't realize that "his efforts" were what put them in that position to begin with.
